Q: I JUST WANT TO CREATE ACCOUNT FOR MY SON

For crying out loud APPLE.. I got my son iphone4, its been 3 hours now and still cannot get a simple account created!

First of all the whole account creation is total mess in phone:

- First you enter all the details, then at the end it says, account cannot be created because he's too young.. now why wouldnt it tell me that when I selected the age? Well all you can do then is to enter the same details all over again. Not to mention having "title" as required field, come on.

Next comes up the credit card trap, my son doesnt have credit card (and who was the idiot that came up with a forced credit card field anyways?)

I know there is hidden way to skip credit card if you first go try to download some free app, but there is not option for that if you are just trying to activate your phone. And which idiot from apple decided to remove the "no credit card" option from everyone who didnt think of going through free app and then registration..?!?!?!?

100% will not buy apple products again and will recommend anyone else to do the same.

Not sure if can return the phone anymore since i purchased it several weeks ago, almost a month probably

as its my son's birthday today, but thanks to apple he cannot use his phone for anything.

Until we register some new random email account (totally useless and annoying, since he already has email account to use)

Then we have to try again and hope for the best that it gives the no credit card option. And of course need to fill 10 pages of details all over again.

And as usual, some idiot from apple decided that you cannot even remove your apple id account, so could start over

https://www.apple.com/support/appleid/manage-account/

And just for laughs, check out their tutorial on something as simple as creating an account

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204316

ahahahah *puke*

And why not enter my credit card and remove it later?

Why should I? I just want a free account for my son, I dont want to post credit card details, knowing that apple will save them somewhere anyways.

Even posting this is so difficult, there is no "support", no "help", no "account" community, so i guess this goes to iphone categoty,.

* Tried to post, it says "You are not allowed to create or update this content" >< Whats wrong with these people, clicking support took me here but cannot even post a questions? Cant they do anything right?

** ahahah, your device selection below, selected "iphone4" it lists all operating systems, even windows xp.. come one, cant you filter a list?

*** Ok 3rd time now, can i post a support questions??

Get lost apple.

iPhone 4, iOS 8, useless

Progress so far (after 4hrs), kid is already sleeping couldnt wait for all this Apple's mess.

Removed the email from previous account, undocumented solution to remove your account as usual, apple doesnt want to help their users.

Well, things looked fine when installed itunes and went through the free app first, and register then way,

finally "NONE" is one payment option.

But lets not forget that its apple product,

On CREATE ID click it says "For assistance, contact itunes support, at www..." (that link is of course not clickable, usability? who cares says apple)

There are no errors in the form, just doesnt work through itunes it seems.

Well back to the phone again, fill in the details 10th time?

Form is fine again, NONE is available as payment, BUT surprise from Apple again

"That Apple ID is already in use" ?!?!?!?!?

Well lets calm down and read the rest..

    "..try using a different name"

WHAT DIFFERENT NAME???  Should I change First name? Last name? Middle name? Doesnt matter what name you put it doesnt work.

Surely it means email, but why not just say that? And the email address IS NOT USED anymore so whats the problem?

But if I go to here to check:

    https://iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid

    it says :

    No Apple ID Found.

We can't find an Apple ID matching the information you provided.

Come on what are you doing apple, do you have any usability testing at all on your products and websites?

    huh

Cant event remove that "this helped me" click anymore.. thanks apple!

This forum email account cannot be changed either, maybe thats why iphone thinks its already used as apple id (even though its not according to forgot id system).

Also looking at the other answers, forum accounts cannot be removed never. - thanks apple

    More fun,

When trying to create new account on web,

    https://appleid.apple.com/account

it show green email address IS AVAILABLE.. Yeah!

lets see how far can get there.. I like it how the security questions are different on web, itunes and iphone.. whats up with that?

Ahaa, suddenly its not available, even thought it shows green when writing it there first time, come on apple, hire some educated people.

"This email address is not available for use as an Apple ID. You may already have an Apple ID associated with this address. Please try again or sign in using your existing Apple ID."

    Extra bonus,

Tested different internet connection on itunes, closed all firewalls etc. it finally at least says "account is already in use".

Nice going Apple, cannot even make a program that connects to internet on windows?

    ok, apple fun continues..

Hey there is chat help! Lets go: "Chat"

    We’re Sorry.

We are unable to complete your request at this time. Please try again or come back later.

What? Well on worries, lets try again as its suggests!

Hit browser back button, some random new page appears which list of products..

I didnt event enter through that page why forward me there?

Ok, ok.. lets type the question again..and again..(btw. that try again button takes you to the start always, thanks apple!)

Thats enough, its not working.. lets just try the email support then. (but it means my son wont be able to download anything with his new phone until next week, thanks apple!)

Ok, email support form, yeah this is gonna work!

Lets type in the details.. what only 300 some characters left? Well lets link to this topic then.

Presses enter, what? no new line..but it decreases 1 character everytime you press enter still >< Yeah this form has never been tested as usual.

    Wait - there is hope!

Now when typing the email at the new registration form it says its in use (red box), didnt happen before..well who knows why.

In the meanwhile lets try activating the current account where primary email was changed,

phone again, search for some free app again, login again, 100th time?

Yeaa, NONE is one payment option, now quick before it changes its mind, Wohoo!!

Now quickly change primary email address back to the original.. seems to accept it here, why cannot make new account with it, who knows..

Ok, address changed, all good to go?

Ah..need to signout in iphone, signin with original email, search app again, downloading!!!!!

ok.. can go to sleep now and my son can test his phone in the morning.

So what did we learned so far?

Avoid Apple products & services like plague.

And is you want USABILITY, look elsewhere, apple doesnt know that word. (especially with their services & websites)

    Thanks for nothing.

    1) Only reason I suggested that is because once an email address is associated with an Apple ID, it can't be associated with another Apple ID until it's removed from the first one. It's easier to just make a new email than try wrestling the other one to fit.

    2) The credit card is legally required to verify you're an adult authorizing a child. You can remove it once the account is created.
