Q: Possible to store photos in iCloud & delete on iPhone?

Is there a way to continue storing my photos on iCloud while deleting them from my iPhone 6 (iOS 9.1)...?  I take lots of pictures and would like to keep the originals in iCloud but delete some of the images from my iPhone in order to save memory and space on the phone.  Tried deleting a few photo albums on the phone and that deletes the images from the cloud...

Realize that it's possible to backup photo files to my laptop but would like to maintain storage in the cloud.

Thanks for any assist and recommendations.

Apple doesn't currently offer any cloud-only storage option for photos. If you have iCloud Photo Library turned on in your phone and you delete a photo, it will also be deleted from iCloud and from any other devices connected to that iCloud Photo Library. You can reduce the storage space required on the phone by turning on Settings > iCloud > Photos > Optimize iPhone Storage.

You can make the suggestion that more options be offered via http://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html

Also, there are 3rd party services that do have options for cloud-only photo storage. They include Dropbox and Flickr.
