Q: Exchange calendar not syncing after iOS 9 update

I am using google Apps for business (no two steps authentication) and Exchange calendar stops syncing after iOS 9 update (now running on iOS 9.0.1) . It is happening both on iPad and iPhone and started after the update.

I have already tried resetting both devices (and set up as new device without restoring from iCloud backups), it works for a few hours and then it stops again. The temporary solutions of either disabling the calendar sync and re-enable it or deleting the Exchange account and setting it up again, works for only a few hours.

Does anyone else experiencing the same problem?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.0.1

I have been having the same issues. Here is what I've learned by testing on multiple phones with multiple versions of iOS.

My iPhone 6 stopped synchronizing with Exchange (mail, calendar, contacts) after the iOS 9 update - Not sure if it started with 9.0.0 or it it didn't start until 9.0.2 but it will not sync on my iPhone 6.

I have another iPhone 6 that had iOS 8.2 on it and I configured that phone for my exchange server - it synchronized immediately with no problems.

I also have an iPhone 5 that I just updated to iOS 9.0.2 and it syncs perfectly with my exchange server.

SO, it appears that this issue is specific to iPhone 6 running iOS 9.0.2

I was on the phone with Microsoft support today for an hour and the support tech didn't seem to have an previous awareness of this issue and didn't know how to solve it.

Anyone learn anything more? Any fixes known??

    Thanks!

    Hey,

I think it is not about iPhone 6 but it is about specific combination of backup configuration and iOS 9(0.2). I am using iPhone 4 running 7.1.2 without any problems with exchange. On my iPhone 5s running 9.0.2 exchange doesn't work. I tried this steps:

    - Reset all settings - no success

    - Reset network settings - no success

    - Remove exchange account and reset all settings and network settings then new exchange configuration - no success

    - Backup phone using iTunes and restore to default then restore from iTunes backup - no success

    - Remove exchange account, backup phone using iTunes and restore to default then restore from iTunes backup - no success

I noticed, there is no phone device listed on exchange web front-end however iPhone exchange configuration seems to be done without any issue - it just doesn't sync.

After this steps i got new funny issue: Function Auto-lock stopped to work (SETTINGS>GENERAL>Auto-Lock) and my screen is always ON (have to use top button to lock)

After all this steps I tried to restore phone to factory default using iTunes a then set it as a new phone without restoring from backups. After manual configuration exchange and Auto-lock works and phone device appeared on exchange web front-end.

I am using iPhone backup from first time I bought iPhone (iPhone 4) so maybe there is some old specified configuration and iOS 9(.0.2) couldn't handle it...

Having the same problem plus more!. Recently upgraded my iPad to iOS 9. Work uses Google Apps for Education, and recommends using Exchange for sync. Gmail.com calendar seems to be affected as well.

Calendar stopped syncing recurring events. Tried to turn calendar off then on. No joy. Got drastic and deleted the account and re-added. Decided to delete all my contacts as well (stupid stupid stupid). Now no calendar sync and NO CONTACTS.

Contacts won't sync at all. Not with Exchange Gmail or with regular Gmail.

Plus I can't even SEE the Exchange Gmail calendar account -- that is, under "Calendars" it does not even appear as an option.

Great update, Apple. Such a smooth operation...

I'll gladly drop iPad Calendar once the Google Calendar app for iPad updates to be a full screen app. Please Google?

I'm a happy camper. The iOS 9.1 update fixed the Gmail via Exchange sync errors I was seeing for my iPad Air 2 -- for both calendar and contacts. Once the update happened, I did a reset, turned off the Calendar sync and Contacts sync, then turned them back on again. Pretty much instantly they started syncing again, including recurring events. I'm satisfied this is working now -- but I'll keep checking.

    Hey all,

In my case upgrade to 9.1 solve all my issues. But I made it in these steps (just because Im freaky...):

    - remove exchange configuration

    - backup to iCloud

    - backup using iTunes

    - upgrade to 9.1 using iTunes

    - restore from iTunes backup

    - configure exchange account

I just needed to wait a while to exchange sync. Now it is working well for more then 3 days.

Tried all suggested solutions.  Only one worked partially for a short period of time (turning off the exchange calendar, rebooting, turning it back on).  Only some of the calendar items synched across before it stopped.  Tried it again and got nothing, nada.  This is a serious issue since I'm on business travel and can't easily access my desktop to check meetings as they move etc.  Very frustrating.

    I have this symptoms:

    iphone 6S iOS 9.1

    Account on Exchange 2013

when I create new event on iPhone with invitee - the event is not registered on the invitee iphone. on he's Mail app (on mac) this causes the exchange account to go offline.

When creating the same event from my Mac - it is all ok.

Doing the same but without invitee - the event is registered ok on my exchange calendar.

It seems to me a definite iOS bug.

    Hi,

itunes can't sync calendar when the Windows environment variable PATH is longer than 2048 characters due to installations of new programs.

    Steps to check that:

    1. Open a MSDOS Command window.

    2. Type: path

    3. Copy the result in a editor and count characters.

    4. Throw out old path names. Keep at last %SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\system32\Wbem  eg. C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\system32\Wbem

    5. Start itunes again and sync.

    I am with iPhone 6P / iOS 9.1

Calen events will suddenly disappear and then reappear "some time" later while this may talk about a few hours.  Useless...

I work in IT support for a large company and we get many tickets about Calendars not working on their iphones with activesync.

The sad part is, if they had simply got an Android and used ActiveSync with that, they wouldn't have any issues at all.

Apple refuses to acknowledge they have a problem so these users are pretty much out of luck until they go to Android.

Do you have any ideas to what could be causing it? I have been looking around online and been getting mixed answers.

I am not sure if it can be resolved, but any workarounds can help... unfortunately if its broken users cant really trust their calendars anymore...

Any tips will be helpful, thanks.

I have had several instances where meeting requests have wound up on my iCloud calendar rather than Exchange calendar--even though Exchange is the default.  Since I normally do not have iCloud calendars shown on the desktop (OS X iCal not Outlook), the appointments seem not to sync because I see them on the phone but not the desktop.  However, showing the iCloud calendars has always revealed the missing appointments.

This seems to happen when the appointment organizer sends from iCloud and I accept the appointment on my phone.  If I accept the appointment from the desktop, it works as expected.

This seems like a bug in iOS 9.x.  Anyone else experience this problem?
