i have a similiar problem. after upgrading from iOS 8.4.1 to iOS 9, my ip5s only showed the iTunes icon with a cable. Tried updating from many different iTunes, couldn't work. Really making me crazy, no solution.

Nov 21, 2015 5:55 AM in response to pda8333by KiltedTim,What is the error message you got? If it's error 53, you're hosed. That's a hardware failure related to touch ID. If you had the screen and / or home button replaced by anyone other than Apple, it's permanently borked and is unfixable. Buy a new phone.
