Q: Possible virus in 10.6.8. Have never installed updates that I know of.

Tried to access my bank account through Coastal Bank. Got this message. Bank thinks might be virus. I have 10.6.8 operating sytems Desktop mac. Have not tried fixes et.

    If this was a popup in your web browser, it's a scam. Force quit Safari, then hold down the shift key and relaunch it.

     

    If this was a legitimate email from your bank, then they don't know what they're talking about as there has yet to be an actual virus that affects OS X.

     

    The last part of the message makes no sense. Google couldn't care less about the security of your bank's web site. Nor could they do the slightest thing about it even if they did care.

    If Kurt's suggestion doesn't work, try another browser as a test. Firefox for 10.6 is still being updated. Safari is not.
