Q: Boot Camp on iMac Retina 5K?

I think that Apple states that Windows may be installed on the Retina 5K, but will there be a problem with drivers?

More importantly, will Windows drivers be in conflict with Apple's proprietary Timing Controller they've announced for this computer?

The Driver haven't been updated for 5 month, 3.8K in Windows isn't too bad, but I would like to see the full 5K, but the Windows 8.1 scaling is horrible for a some Applications. Not sure what is the issue here? Who can we go and beat to get our 5K support in Windows?

OMG, please don't tell me that when Windows 10 comes this year, there won't be drivers support

Anyway, most games works for me, I have been playing GTA V, and that works okay. The December driver isn't too bad, but this is probably the first time a "new" product is getting shoved as if it is a 5 year old product and getting zero support for the windows side only.

Yes, OS X supports "real" 5K. But everything is too tiny that it becomes unuseful...

Just ALT+CLICK on "scaled" in Display preferences. I will shoe you all supported resolutions. Pick up your glasses!!

im getting a similar error alexm4d1. really wish this would get fixed, only because it is also causing my computer to crash either when idle too long or when in sleep/hibernate/display is turned off for too long.

Something strange happened today: I've installed additional 16Gb of RAM into my 2014 iMac Retina, booted to Windows and Apple Software Updater showed me that there was an update available for Boot Camp. The thing is that it offered 6.0 update, which I already had installed. I thought it might be some fix or something like that, so I installed it, rebooted to Boot Camp again and... my screen resolution was 5120 by 2880 in Windows 10. I don't know weather it is just a coincidence and Apple really pushed an update, or the reason is in upgraded memory (I don't really think it is), but it is just something really really strange.

    Hey guys,

It seems that the last update for the Bootcamp added support for 5k resolution in Windows.

All you have to do is accept Apple Software Update to install the new version of Bootcamp, I'm using Windows 10 in a iMac 5k and it worked smoothly.

    Cheers!

May I know what version is your iMac 5K?

I am using iMac 5K late 2014, El Capitan (10.11.1) with AMD R9 290X but the latest Bootcamp 6 driver still does not work on Windows 10.  Anyone else is having the same issue?

Yes, we have the same version. Very strange that mine is not working. Could it be that the graphic chip/hardware is defective? Could it be that this is a Windows 10 Home issue?

I had even tried to reinstall Windows 10 but the result is the same. Also tried to reinstall the Bootcamp 6 update again but still having the same error.

I had contacted the Apple Support staff but they do not seem to know what is wrong. They do not know about this issue as well.

I don't think that your graphic hardware is defective, it must be something wrong with Windows drivers.

PS: the default resolution changed automatically to 5k in Windows after Bootcamp updated to version 6, I didn't have to change any configuration.

Maybe its the Windows 10 version? Are you using Windows 10 Pro or Home?

The drivers are from the Apple Software Update. So we should be using the same drivers.
