Q: Shared albums not on iCloud.com

Hi, can anyone tell me why shared albums don't appear on 'photos' tab on icloud.com? It shows albums but my shared albums aren't there.

    Shared albums are not part of iCloud Photo Library. They are stored in a different section of iCloud.

    You have to import the photos from your Shared albums to the library and add them to standard albums to see them in iCloud Photo Library at www.cloud.com, or publish the shared albums as a public webpage, then you can also see them online.

    Thanks Leonie – I might be being dim here, but I'm still confused.

    So let me explain further  – I already have standard albums in Photos, as well as shared.

    Neither appear on icloud photos.

     

    So this is just a completely different place for sharing albums?

    what settings do your have for iCLoud in your Mac system preferences, in Photos preferences and on each IOS device and if you are using iCloud PHoto library what is the status on each device

    ah, I see now.

    So in my prefs on Photos, "icloud photo library" wasn't selected.

    I guess selecting this would upload the whole contents into the icloud photos and will appear on icloud.com then.

    And doesn't look as though it will be without extra cost!

    I have 120gb of photos and videos – so would cost me at least £2.49/month.

    Not worth the extra cost for me.

    LarryHN – do you know if I would need to purchase more cloud storage for shared albums on Photos? Does this contribute to my icloud storage?

    Shared albums do not count against your free iCloud storage, see:  https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202786

     

    But there are limits, how many albums you can have:  iCloud: Photo Stream limits

     

     

    To see your shared albums online, enable "Public Website" and use the URL to access them:
