Q: 2010 Mac Pro Keeps rebooting

Hello,

I'm hopping someone has seen this issue before and give suggestions in how to resolve it. I have the following Mac Pro and it keeps rebooting.

I was able to reinstall the OS and it seem to be stable for about 15 min before it reboots. The screenshot above was when I powered the Mac on from overnight.

I was able to take a pic of the error on the screen. I'm guessing my CPU has gone bad?

More likely the GPU.

Hello and thank you for the reply.

I changed out my GPU and I got the following errors. Could it be that I have two bad GPU's?

That doesn't seem likely. The machine is too old to be serviced by Apple (unless you happen to be in California), so you would have to take it to an independent service shop for testing.

I'm going to take it to a repair shop, but looking at the first line it really looks like a CPU issue. "CPU(s) failed to respond to interrupts, unresponsive CPU bitmap"

it really looks like a CPU issue.

That does indeed appear to be a multiple-processor problem.

But it can also occur when the Graphics processor is not cooperating with the other processors.

Took it to the repair shop and they were unable to determine the problem. Looks like I'm going to have to take a trip to the Apple Store. I don't have a clue how much that is going to cost. Does anyone know how they charge to troubleshoot / repair Mac Pro's?

before you spend more money ...

a few weeks ago i had the same problem, frequent reboots several times a day.

After incidentally updating adobe flash, the reboot problem has vapored to hot air. It is a wild guess, but you should give it a try.

Apple Store. I don't have a clue how much that is going to cost.

Your appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple Store for an evaluation is FREE, in warranty or out. There is generally no charge unless they need to use parts to fix the problem, and then the repairs there are flat rate, no surprises.

State laws in California extend the time Apple must continue to provide parts and service for devices like this.

I'll have to take it in. When I hold the D key during the boot up I never see the Apple Diagnostics begin. I just get a blank screen. Do you guys know I the Mac Pro will run with a single CPU?

Hello All,

I changed the video card in my system and the problem didn't go away. I took different logic board (from a working system) along with the CPU and memory that is configured on it and added it to my system. I was able to boot up without getting the errors in the screenshot up above and was able to login to the system. After trying to install an app the system froze on me again and I just powered it off before it rebooted. The only think I can think the problem could be is the logic board the CPU Board, Video Card (PCI), Hards Drives and CD Rom connects to is the problem. I don't think it's the power supply, but I really don't know at this point.
