Q: Duplicate (3) Birthdays on Calendar @ icloud.com (not on iOS Devices or Mac)

Hi,

after dealing with the above mentionded problem for quite some time (and ignoring it) I want to fix a problem on icloud.com (calendar): I have multiple birthday entries for my contacts.

This is strictly an icloud.com problem. Both all iOS devices (iPhone/iPad) and my Mac (iCal) are showing one entry. Only icloud.com shows duplicates (unchecking the birthday cal - logging off - again signing in did not do the trick).

My last attempt to fix this problem by myself only made it worse (one more duplicate): I saved all contacts locally (on my mac), unchecked all icloud subscriptions on my mac (no contacts left, no local ones too)/iOS devices (deleted them) and deleted all contacts on icloud.com (web). Then I rechecked icloud subscription on my mac and imported all contacts from my file (to icloud).

The result: not one duplicate bithday but two duplicates (and naturally the right one from contacts)!

I guess there needs to be performed an icloud cal database cleanup job to get rid of the duplicates. Nothing else helped (I tried many approaches). Please don't advise me to check/uncheck icloud or something similar. This is strictly an icloud.com related issue. Due to unsufficient priviliges (of course) I cannot delete the duplicates manually.

@apple support: Thanks for helping me.

Cheers

Axel

See if this helps -- iCloud: Advanced Calendar and iCal troubleshooting - Apple Support

FYI - Apple Support doesn't read/review these boards however if your intention was to reach them you will have to contact them via telephone.

    Hi

thanks, but my problem is not solved by the given link.

I only use birthday related dates from my contacts - no manually entries.

    But thanks anyway.

    Cheers

Then I think your next step would be to contact Apple Support.

I too have this issue and I have tried all the tricks. It is a bug. In my case, I was copying my Google contacts once in a while to my icloud account since my contact sync is to Google. I documented and talked to apple on this issue which is that every time I pasted another set of contacts (removing the old) into the icloud contacts, a new birthday entry was created. The birthday entries as you probably all know are read only and so there was no solution. I had heard that one person called apple and they had to take over his account for a few days to fix the issue and that the real issue is on the server. Bottom line is this is a ridiculous issue to have. Even if they simply added a remove duplicate choice as a gap fix, that would likely satisfy everyone.

Apple offers great hardware however they've been remiss in updating or improving their software.

Yes. The iCloud online area can be so helpful but it is a pure vanilla product with numerous bugs. This big miss is so unfortunate. I wish they would realize this area can be so helpful to us especially for calendaring...

I think, sadly, most of their R&D and funds are targeted towards hardware rather than their software.  Even Mossberg said in an article that Apple should fix their software for 2016.
