Nov 22, 2015 9:53 PM in response to Evster87by hkjtx,When the phone is turned sideways, there is an icon at top of screen next to url bar. The reading icon should be highlighted blue, but if you click on it, it turns white & the reading list on left hand side of screen goes away

Nov 25, 2015 8:40 PM in response to Evster87by Bazza J,I had the same issue. It was ******* me off. Go to view, click on hide sidebar. Seems good so far. Hopefully it doesn't reset when I restart.

Dec 27, 2015 1:20 PM in response to pinkstonesby iFaninVan,At the top left of the Safari window, there are first the red, yellow, and green circles. Next, the back and forward arrows. The next icon, if you've dragged the default toolbar icons there, is the MINI SIDEBAR ICON. Click on it, and the pesky sidebar will close.

Jan 20, 2016 9:45 AM in response to iFaninVanby erb1991,Sorry hardtofindusername, but unfortunately this is not the solution for the problem described here. It only occurs when you run Safari in FULLSCREEN (top left - green button) and move the curser all the way to the left edge of the screen. And as far as I can see, even with the OS X 10.11.3 update from yesterday there is no solution for this.

Feb 20, 2016 12:48 PM in response to pinkstonesby nwonogo,If Apple doesn't read these boards.. then who moderates them?? Banana? or Pear?
a forum wihthout moderators, is the same as a planet without space to float in (impossible)
Besides, i have has posts deleted, blocked and moved.. by who?? strawberry?
What you really mean is "Apple tells Moderators to say that Apple dont read these forums, and to post a link to the feedback page"
which is wehat always happens
I read my own forums to see what feedback i can get from my users withough letting them contact me
If i do that in my little projects.. so do Apple. In fact, so does every forum owner

The Hosts moderate these boards. The Hosts are not Apple. They are the ones that edit, delete, and move posts and/or threads. No one tells us to say that Apple doesn't read these boards, we do that of our own volition.......because they don't. We give the Feedback link because changes have been instituted from a significant number of people leaving comments about something that isn't working the way it's supposed to be. I'm not a moderator, and as far as I know, the Hosts do not post on these boards, they just make sure everyone plays by the rules you're supposed to agree to and read before you sign up.

Mar 6, 2016 9:09 AM in response to Evster87by WisconsinEric,I found this solution on another discussion board, and it worked for me (multiple times reopening Safari).
1. If the Sidebar is open, click on "Hide Sidebar" in the View menu.
2. Then, still under the View menu, select Customize Toolbar.
3. On the Toolbar at the top of the open Safari window, find the icon for the sidebar (use the Customize window as a reference).
4. Click and hold on it, and drag it off the Toolbar until it goes 'poof' and disappears.
5. Click on the 'Done' button at the bottom right of the Customize Toolbar window, and you're done.
The irritating Sidebar should be gone and never return.
I am using 10.11.3 on a late 2009 Mac Mini. Cheers, and thanks to the person who first posted this tip (I forget the source).

Apr 29, 2016 6:03 AM in response to WisconsinEricby MarkDilley,Finally! Thank you WisconsinEric,
What a simple solution that no one realizes. I have search over several months, frustratingly so, until this nugget of gold.
Remove it from the toolbar!! Best, Mark

Have you gone up to View --> Hide Sidebar?
