Q: Upgrade path for server app on Mavericks to El Capitan

I bought the OS Server at the Mavericks release and now want to upgrade to El Capitan.  Is there an upgrade path other than buying the Server 5.x app?

Mavericks uses Server.app 3.x, Yosemite originally used Server.app 4.x but can also use 5.x and El Capitan can only use Server.app 5.x

The (Yosemite) Server.app 4.x to 5.x upgrade was/is free of charge and is the only case I am aware of that Apple allowed such a free version upgrade. As far as I am aware it will still be the case that going from previous versions i.e. 3.x, 2.x or 1.x to 5.x will require re-purchasing Server.app. However Server.app is very, very cheap.
