Q: ios9 icloud backups missing information

restored my new 6s plus from my 6 plus backup on 9.01 and everything transferred fine.    backed up my 6s plus on 9.01 and did a complete software restore to 9.02.  loaded the back up and the text and imessages do not display.  also all my app that were "signed in" to services   facebook ect now required me to re-sign in.    This has never happened before.

Anyone else experience this ,  does anyone have a fix?

My iPhone 6 backup from 24th September seems to have restored successfully to my iPhone 6s.

Apps have data up to the 24th September, including health data.

I've just walked around the house and health has updated with the steps.

I'll feed this back to Apple, and see where we go from there.

Seems to be as others have said, it's an issue restoring a backup that was made on an iPhone 6s.

So this establishes it is only iPhone 6s to iPhone6s restore. If you revert back to a previous hardware restore it doesn't seem to be an issue. I am willing to hold out and see if Apple can find a solution in the next week or two.  The one things that is bothering me is the lack of notifications for iMessages in the interm.  Has anyone found a solution to this?

I think I was getting notifications for iMessages on the broken restore - not sure now. I didn't notice not getting them.

    Unrelated to you:

I had noticed (on my broken restore) that the "myfitnesspal" app was updating with steps that my iPhone is recording, so it seems it might actually be able to access the information, and the steps information is being recorded? It's just the health app can't read/display it. I think the only way to check if steps are being recorded, is make a backup to iTunes, use a backup explorer to see the filesize of the health database. Then make some more steps with the iPhone, do another backup, check health database filesize again... I may try that at the weekend.

However, the 7-minute workout app has an option to enable health data, but it will not switch on.

Does anyone have an app that can read multiple items of health data, to see if it is able to see the data and see if it has the new data since the broken restore?

I forgot to mention, the Apple support technician replied to my email about the iPhone 6 backup successfully restoring to my 6s.

She's said she'll pass the information back to the engineers, and at least we know that we can get most of that data (meaning, up to the 24th September), and to keep the iPhone 6 backup for now.

Unfortunately, that leaves me with a slight dilemma. I either stay on this 6 backup and lose data from between 24th September and now.

Or I chance the broken backup and hope that health data is actually recording, and will be recoverable.

My old iPhone 6s had some issue with power button, and so Genius Bar replaced it with another unit.

Now, I have the same iCloud restore issue, it's a 6S to 6S restore on iOS 9.1. Call history and Message history are gone. Also, some of the App data aren't compatible. Have to start fresh with some apps.

I noticed in my storage settings for the bad restore on my iPhone 6s that there is still 6.3gb of iMessage data on the phone (yet none of it displays) this gives me hope that the data is still actually there.

Has anyone got any further updates from Apple Support?

I received a call today, basically just to say she's still waiting for the engineering team to reply. She's sent them another note asking for an update, and will update me when she hears back.

PS. I decided to stick with my broken restore for now.

I just got off the phone with Apple engineering.    They uploaded the logs from the profile they installed on my phone last week.  The rep told me that this is actively being worked by the engineering team. He said that it appears that it may affect all or a vast majority of 6s and 6s plus users so it is a top priority for Apple to fix.   I'll keep everyone posted as I have more information.

Doesn't really leave me with much faith. "Top priority" yet it's been going on since October. I really can't believe it's still happening!

I'll hopefully get a call back tomorrow too - the call from them today had no new information.

After months on an iPhone 4s where backup would not complete, it works right after updating to 9.2. I did make sure to swipe up on all apps to close them out before updating as well.

OK, part reversal. Update still fails, however, when I go to manage storage for icloud, I now see that are sizes listed. Before this update, it just said "no data." This is on iPhone 4S
