Oct 15, 2015 9:41 AM in response to saifonfromnullby leeguth, what works for me is to turn off Bluetooth. As soon as I switch it off, the sounds come back. I am guessing the sounds are 'going' to a headset that my phone is pared with, although the headset is not active.

Oct 19, 2015 5:41 AM in response to bokoneby tatterdemalion,Bokone - following the steps you described worked for me.
I have an iPhone 6. It has latest OS. I was listening to music through my headphones and the music just stopped. I followed the steps that Bokone suggested and it worked.

Oct 25, 2015 8:43 AM in response to annefromottawaby Sabby001,I have the same problem as everyone else here. It's defiantly a big bug. The ONLY fix for me is to restart the phone then the sound comes back. If they don't fix this in the next update I'm going back to Samsung.

Oct 31, 2015 2:41 AM in response to marcibroby Cartridge88,This worked for me -
This one is a bit weird but it worked for me for a while and has worked successfully for other people. Squeeze the bottom right hand corner of the phone above where the speaker is. The left Side is a mic not a speaker so don’t worry about that side. Hold that grip for about 20 seconds. This is done as the connector may be loose and had to be repositioned correctly. Yes strange but most of these solutions are.

Nov 11, 2015 9:30 AM in response to marcibroby balcintro,i've had my iPhone 6 Plus for over a year now. Never had this issue until today. The only different way I've been using my phone is that I recently had Bluetooth installed in my car so that I could listen to phone audio through the radio. Recently means last week. I've been driving my car around utilizing Bluetooth for several days with no issues. Today I went to the grocery store. When I got back to my car and started it I heard the radio tone sound to indicate Bluetooth was connected. But then I heard an odd noise (like a loud vibration) and after that no sound at all. I tried different apps to verify it wasn't just my podcast app. I turn Bluetooth on and off, disconnected and reconnected but nothing. Then I did a hard reboot and that solved the problem. Not sure if it's hardware or software but there's clearly a problem.

Nov 22, 2015 3:30 PM in response to marcibroby mann4567,I have had the same problem for a while and finally found the solution. I think it started when we got a car with Bluetooth and the music always started to play from the Iphone. Somehow I got it to stop to play and forgot all about it.
My Iphone 5 and later Iphone 6 too worked fine except when I tried to use a headset. The solution was to go to Setting - music - volume limit. It was turned all the way down and as soon I changed it, the sound was back in my headset.
I so wish I had known way sooner as I still have no clue why that would impact the headset and not the speaker.

Nov 23, 2015 6:30 AM in response to balcintroby Golfer_1,I have had the following problem today with my new iPone 6s Plus. Suddenly, after disconnecting from a bluetooth in the car, the phone lost the sound in such a way that instead of normal sound it only rattled. I went through various sounds and ringtones and it either rattled or there was completely no sound (only vibrating). Switching the iPhone off and re-starting it helped and the sound has been restored. However from this thread and another one about distorted sound in new iPhones it looks that there is a software problem with sound in iPhone 6s & 6s Plus which should be urgently addressed by Apple. Hoping it is not a hardware problem.

Nov 24, 2015 2:50 PM in response to Martin Nunezby PG tips,Had problem of missing messages because no alert sound..... going to settings and pressing on sound bar produced no sound but on third attempt it did and other sounds worked as well..... kept happening..... Apple Store couldn't work it out, ok after rebooting but then after a day or two same problem.... it was intermittent and sometimes was ok then nothing even when I did nothing to alter it. They gave me new phone and I thought all was ok but then the same thing started to happen. On occasions when testing the sounds in setting the same situation .. they work or they don't but will after pressing them x3. Something new happened when testing a couple of time .... the phone vibrated but no sound even though set for both. Just now I got an alert sound for a message from my daughter and noticed that she'd messaged about 15 mins ago but I got no sound for that message (phone on my desk 2 feet from me so I wouldn't have missed it.) I can't believe I've had 2 dud phones so suspect it's in the software somewhere.

Nov 26, 2015 10:35 PM in response to marcibroby B00tneck,Same problem here on iPhone 6 iOS 9.1(13B143) - carrier Three (v22.1). Sound just stops on this phone, and the fix is to turn it off/on. But thats no good when you use the phone for an alarm clock.
There was the alarm clock issue 5 years ago: http://http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/apple/8101945/Apple-iPhone-4-alarm- clock-bug-makes-scores-late-for-work.html that might be related. Either way, testing on this should be prioritised as its a feature most people use. I now have to go and buy an alarm clock, to make sure I don't sleep through the iphone alarm if it decides to take another dump!

Nov 26, 2015 11:32 PM in response to marcibroby StigBull,This happens to me too sometimes, both on my 6S + and Ipad Pro.
What I find, is that the devices has both for some mysterious reason Bluetooth-connected to the Philips HiFi soundbar I have in the living room, even though it can be off.
I just "forget" this device in the Bluetooth menu, and all sound is back.
