Q: starbucks wifi problems

I have a fairly new Mac Book Air and have problems getting wifi at Starbucks. It will indicate in the top bar that I am on the Starbucks network, but I never see the Accept & Connect page and cannot go to any sites because I am not actually online. Today I tried a different Starbucks and had the same problem, but I was able to go online with a different network that my computer detected--from a grocery store business next door. No problem going to a few sites as long as I used that network while sitting right in Starbucks. Has there been a change in Starbucks wifi causing a problem? Or is it  a wifi problem related to the Mac Book Air? It's frustrating, because I use Starbucks wifi a lot when I travel.

i've been suffering this same "accept and connect" issue for ages.

my ipad just can't quite get to that screen. once it does, the starbucks wifi works well, but getting there is frustrating.

trying huff or my local library seems to work, eventually, so i will try the purple.com fix, but something is off-kilter.

i use chrome, and it does help if i close all the windows.

no problems on other free-wifi usually.

my daughter has the same thing on an ipod.

anyhow, i keep thinking someday it'll resolve itself.

Just to update this thread, I just bought a new Macbook Air (early 2014 edition) and I also have connectivity issues at my local Starbucks (google wifi). I'll be connected for almost an hour and then I'll notice my WiFi icon on my menu bar begin to search for a new wifi router to connect to. After several minutes it's unable to connect and I get an exclamation point on my wifi icon.

I have to connect to a different network and then reconnect.

I had the same wifi-connectivity problem at three different locations (1 in NY, 2 in CA) for months.

I have a solution that finally worked for me (I have a macbook pro; yosemite): clear your proxy setting.

Go to network settings, advanced, and under the Proxies tab, I found that I still had my school's proxy setting. After deleting the school proxy info and clicking "Apply", the browser (Safari or Chrome) reloaded itself and automatically connected to the starbucks google Accept page. Of course, if you still need the school proxy setting, you might need to re-enter it again (so this may not be the best solution for such individuals), but this worked for me since I graduated and no longer needed to connect to the school wifi.

    Hope this helps

Try this: Once after you've clicked on Google Starbucks, open up a browser and immediately go to "Google.com" From there there should be a web certificate validation pop up in your screen. If you see that, click "Continue" and you should see the "Google Starbucks Accept & Connect" that'll pop up next. I hope this will work for you. It did for me

I had a problem with the terms and condition not popping up today and called the support number 855-446-2374 (as mentioned below).

They advised me to try launching chrome and heading to sbux-portal.appspot/rd it didn't work. So we removed the wifi connection and erased it from the memorized wifi list, cleared browser histroy, restarted the computer and wala it worked! It's most likely that there was a bad cashe somewhere.

    Hope that helps!

I had this problem today with my MacBook Pro (vintage 2012).  I fixed it by disabling Captive Network Assistant and then opening cnn.com in a browser window immediately after connecting.  Here's how to disable Captive Network Assistant:

    http://applehelpwriter.com/2012/10/19/disable-captive-network-assistant/

Importantly, I had disabled Captive Network Assistant in the past and it recently reappeared, probably because of some automatic update.  I figured out that it was the problem again (to my surprise) by running Wireshark.
