Q: unable to login to iMessage on Yosemite - can login to FaceTime though

Yesterday, I upgraded to El Capitan, and had to downgrade back to Yosemite due to stability problems that seem related to Early 2009 hardware with multiple video cards.  Downgraded to Yosemite (my previous config before ElCapitan, using Time Machine and all works fine except imessage.  I can't login using my App Specific Password.  Same password DOES work with FaceTime.  iCloud calendaring, mail, contacts, faceTime, etc do work.  Just can't login to iMessage.  Created new app-specific password to see if make difference.  Works with FaceTime, but not with  imessage.  Saw suggestion to switch timezones then switch back then reboot.  Tried that but didn't work.  I was able to login on iMessage before the upgrade and downgrade so don't know if the upgrade triggers something in icloud on Apple's end or not.

Running Yosemite 10.10.5 on Mac Pro (Early 2009).

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Early 2009 Mac Pro

    Hi,

    Try a NVRAM reset.

Hold down CMD+ALT+P+R at Start up until you have heard three Start Up bongs.

Then let the Start up continue normally.

That did the job.  Thanks for your help.  Guessing the upgrade then downgrade caused the need for the reset.  Thanks for your help.
