Nov 28, 2015 8:06 AM in response to GrouchoHazelby turingtest2,What exactly does the error message say? See View and remove associated devices in iTunes - Apple Support. If you have tried to authorize a new computer you may have lingering authorizations from previous machines that need to be reclaimed.

Nov 28, 2015 9:35 AM in response to GrouchoHazelby turingtest2,It is to 5 computers for standard authorizations. Authorized computers can be used to transfer content to an unlimited number of Apple devices.
The second limit is 10 computers or iOS devices (no more than 5 of which can be computers) which can be associated with an Apple ID for automatic downloads of purchased content. Once associated with an Apple ID such a device or computer cannot be associated with a different ID for 90 days. Apple TVs do not count as associated devices.
