That is a hard place to be in but lets take a look to see if we can get your iPhone to be seen in iTunes so you can back it up.
For a backup to happen in iTunes, your iPhones does need to be unlocked. If you can, try to hit the passcode where you think the numbers are to get it recognized in iTunes for a backup. If you have used iCloud to back up your iPhone, you can always have it plugged into power when you are at home or a familiar area that you have connected to Wi-Fi and wait it out for a backup to happen.
If in the end you cannot unlock your iPhone, then you will need to use a recent back up in iTunes. You can look to see when the last one happened by going to iTunes Preferences > Devices. For more information, take a look at the articles below to help you out.
