Apr 24, 2015 7:12 PM in response to GirlAwakenedby Mark McKean,For those of you confused by steps 13 forward in D. Hoffmann's instructions...
Step 13 is basically describing what you'll do in steps 14 and 15. The only action to be taken in step 13 is to open the Terminal. Then, in steps 14 and 15, you type the commands given into the Terminal window you just opened, which will result in the owner and group being what's needed for this to work.

Jul 3, 2015 7:32 AM in response to D. Hoffmannby Mr Sqwubbsy,I've tried 3 times to follow your instructions and at no time do I see a "warning dialog" as described in step 3. I'm using Yosemite for what it's worth.

Jul 8, 2015 10:58 AM in response to Mr Sqwubbsyby Robbybass,I can't find the warning dialog, either. Whenever I open the disk image, all I see is the cardboard box icon (with "quicktimempeg2.pkg" underneath). Have you found any other solution?

Aug 12, 2015 5:50 AM in response to D. Hoffmannby Jim Rogalski,Hi D. Hoffman. I can follow your great instructions up to No. 10:
(((10. Double click Contents/Archive.pax.gz, which will put the uncompressed files in your Downloads folder at ~/Downloads/System/Library/QuickTime/ .)))
When I double click the contents folder I do not see the Archives.pax.gz and it is not in any of the subsequent folders. I am running Yosemite on a beefed up MacPro. Any advice?

Dec 3, 2015 6:26 AM in response to D. Hoffmannby mireau,Hello Mr. Hoffmann,
I have the same problem and would like to follow your instructions. But as the language on my MacBook is German, I fail at step 4. When the license-agreement shows up I don`t know where I can find the button "Files" and then "Show Files". There is only the button "save".
Can you help me? Thank you very much!

Dec 3, 2015 7:53 AM in response to mireauby D. Hoffmann,Hi Maya,
Could you switch the system language to English, log out, log back in and then follow the instructions? I haven’t gone through the process I described in my original post in quite some time. Also, always having preferred my system language to be English, rather than German, I am really not familiar with OS X’s German lexicon and how things are presented in German.
Afterwards, you can always switch the language back to German, log out and back in.

Apr 23, 2016 2:37 PM in response to D. Hoffmannby TobinTobin,Hoffman - while your post seems to have helped many, I too stumble at the Step 12, where you drag the Mpge-2 component into the local folder. What happens is a grey X symbol floats and it will not let me drag the component to the intended destination.
I am on El Capitan 10.11.4
QuickTime Version 10.4 (855)
Anything I should do differently?
I am desperately trying to stream a mpg clip so I can edit it in a specific size for my first film I experimenting with,
T
