Dec 3, 2015 2:41 PM in response to FatMac>MacProby wildstar67,The rMBP has been plugged in. Yup, tried both ports. Ran apple diagnostics too and nothing wrong with the computer except that the battery needs servicing.

Dec 3, 2015 4:59 PM in response to wildstar67by my ginger,Do you have it plugged into any kind of a usb hub? What happens if- you restart with the super drive connected? Does your Macbook Pro recognize it at all In disk utilities or at the apple/ about this mac/ systems

Dec 3, 2015 7:26 PM in response to my gingerby wildstar67,i don't own/use a hub. If I restart the computer with the SuperDrive plugged in the screen will stay black on startup and not do anything to complete booting up.

Dec 4, 2015 11:08 AM in response to wildstar67by my ginger,In going to apple, it seems to be stating that to use the superdrive on a 2015 Macbook Pro you need to be connected by way of usb c. I don't know if this is what you have. The earlier Macbook Pro's and Mac Mini's seem to be OK with just usb. You could call an apple store to verify this. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202665
