Q: Cannot import pictures from iPhone 6 to Photo on my MacBook Pro

Only until recently I had a problem of importing pictures taken from my iPhone 6 to my Macbook Pro (early 2013 model). When I connected my iPhone to my Mac, the "Photo" would automatically open but the "Photo" no longer showed new pictures I took from my iPhone under "Import." Therefore, I cannot import any pictures from my iPhone.

I have all the latest updates on both devices. I don't use iCloud and don't intend to use it in the future. Thank you for your help!

Thanks. This was drinving me mad !

Apple should ask DropBox to change their code, or OSX shoudl have a built in work around.

As soon as I turned off DropBox auto-upload and restarted, the problem dissappeared,

My problem was importing photos from my iPhone 5s running iOS9.1 to Photo on my MacBook Pro running El Capitan. Photo recognised my phone but persistently came up with a blank import screen.

After doing a long chat with Apple (who suggested I reset my phone to factory after backing up - not an ideal...) and then searching more discussions, I finally found a solution  - hard to know quite what makes it work but sequence appears to be very important. I had previously restarted everything several times to no avail.

To start, try changing your cable, if that doesn't work then:

    1. Leave phone plugged to mac and LEAVE OPEN both iTunes and Photo

    2. Restart phone whilst still attached.

    This should work.

The other thing I did was to delete several videos and photos - I had about 450 photos and videos to import and I reduced that to around 200 first. The 'size' factor might be important  - perhaps just too much for Photo's little brain?
