Q: Cannot Verify Security Code for iCloud Keychain

Today I was trying to activate my iCloud Keychain on my iPad. Problem is that in order for me to activate it, it sent a verification code to a phone number that I no longer have access. Could support please change the phone number so I can use my iCloud Keychain?

    If you have a Mac that is already using keychain, try changing the number at System preferences > iCloud Keychain > Options, if you have a mobile device try changing the number at Settings > iCloud > Keychain > Advanced. Otherwise...


    You can only change the number once you are successfully logged in the iCloud Keychain. Get help using iCloud Keychain - Apple Support


    If you are not already logged into the iCloud Keychain and you cannot receive the verification code and you do not have another device already logged into iCloud Keychain that you can approve from, then you will need to choose the option that says forgot code.  This will allow you to reset the keychain.

    So I did what you said on my 2 already logged in devices and was able to get to the change number field. Problem is both of my devices gave me an error when trying to change the phone number.

     

    On my iPhone 6 Plus, I got the error: "Failed to change number",

    But on my Macbook Pro, I got a different error: "iCloud Keychain couldn't be set up because there was a problem communicating with iCloud"

     

    I checked the iCloud System Status to see if anything was down.

    I still cannot change my number.

    It sounds as though you have some kind of connection problem, you might be better contacting support.
