Q: Spinning Wheel

I have recently started getting the spinning wheel on some websites using Safari.  Only part of the pages will load.  I downloaded Firefox to see if I would have the same problems, and I did not.  I prefer to use Safari and would like to find out why this problem is occurring.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Might be a cookies, extensions, or plug-ins, causing the spinning wheel.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab then click:  Remove All Website Data

Then quit and relaunch safari to test.

If that didn't help, troubleshoot Safari extensions and third party plug-ins.

From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Uninstall one extension at a time then quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.

Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow Plug-ins.. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

Carolyn, thank you for your quick response.  Initially, this seems to have fixed the problem once I deselected allow plug-ins.  However, when I went to the internet plug-in folder in library, there was nothing in it?  Hopefully safari will continue to work properly.  Thanks again.

    There are two plug-in folders.

    One is root:      /Library/Internet Plug-ins

and your home folder     ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins

***   The Tilde ~ character represents your Home folder

    You're welcome
