Q: Ethernet connection to El Capitan not working
I successfully updated El Capitan on my Ethernet connected desktop on 2nd October 2015. Then on the 22nd October the 10.11.1 update. On 6 and 7th November I was unable to get online. Somehow I managed to get back online on the evening of 8th November. dont ask me how!! That last until the 19th November. Then from the 20th November to the 26th November inclusive. On the 27th November I logged in as Guest and managed somehow to get online again. Until the 30th November and have been offline since with my desktop. I give these dates because I want to eliminate two potential problems:
1. On the 8th November I attached a new Brother wireless all in one printer
2. On the 16th November I received a new Panasonic microwave oven.
my ISP is Plusnet. I contacted them and the answer which I thought was logical is that I have an iPad and iPod touch that I can connext with the Internet. So there is nothing wrong with my line. It must be the iMac system. Plusnet confirmed that I have the correct details in Account preferences. I have one other email account that is iCloud.
I Have tried everything I have seen online including the discussion forums. I am desperate to get back online on my desktop.
