Dec 7, 2015 8:29 PM in response to goldiefromdecorahby poikkeus1,I and quite a few other users fixed this problem by getting a dry cleaning DVD - the kind you put in the superdrive. This cleans the excess dust from the lens, and fixes this issue reliably.

Dec 8, 2015 2:37 AM in response to goldiefromdecorahby K Shaffer,There is some general or basic information about the Apple Optical Drive,
a USB superdrive from Apple for computers that don't have a built-in one:
• Apple Optical Drive - repair guide - iFixit:
https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Apple_Optical_Drive
If the drive inside the metallic & plastic case fails to work, and it is less than a
year old, contact an Apple Store with Genius bar about the matter...
To see what the inside looks like without taking it apart, view the parts inside:

Hopefully a quality cleaning disc may help, but some of them may do damage.
Generally this advice (in link) covers most models of Apple optical SuperDrive:

Good luck with this matter...!
