Q: Is iCloud compatible with Outlook 2016?

I've installed Windows 10 and Office 2016. I also installed iCloud and every time I try to access it and synch with my Outlook 2016, a window pops up and says top Repair iCloud installation, then Restart. I've done this twice but still no go.

Is Outlook 2016 too new??? Or is it Windows 10???

I got iCloud sync to work using the iCloud 5.1 released today.  The process was somewhat rocky, though.  Initially it appeared not to work, but I signed out of iCloud and signed back in and it looks like it is working.
I hadn't tried that with Outlook 4.0.2, the version I replaced today.  I wonder whether it would have worked.  Some people reported Outlook 2016 / Windows 10 working with iCloud 4.1, so it is conceivable that would have worked for one of my computers, but not for my new computer, which didn't have iCloud yet and would have gotten version 5.0 before today.
I appear to have lucked out in my installing of Office 2016 on the new computer yesterday.  The weekday Microsoft business tech support people called today, and I declined their offer to help me take that down to Office 2013, another example of lucking out.

I can also confirm that I installed the latest update iCloud 5.1 just this morning and it works! All this commotion for over 3 months is now finally over! Let's expect that next time Apple will show some more empathy, sooner that is! I synced all my e-mails, contacts and calendars in Outlook 2013! Enjoy you all!

Problems with the "iCloud for Windows" 5.1:

After installing it with Outlook 2016 in Windows 10:

I see my contacts in Outlook 2016; but i don't see the Add-on "iCloud". So i can not sync !!!!!

Im mainly an Apple user. We run Apple hardware. Only Microsoft software we use is Office 2016 on iOS and on our MacBooks. All our data is on OneDrive. And we use Outlook for mail as well. Our iCloud mail is forwards to our outlook.com addresses. On our Apple devices we use the outlook apps and not Apples own mail.app.

We only use iCloud mainly for family sharing, shared photo albums, contacts and our own and family calendars.

Will this update in any way help with syncing our calendars and contacts into Microsofts cloud environment???

    Yes - it works

But ... why did it take so long ?

and the whole time no reaction or comment from the IT-press nor from apple inc.

    Really frustrating

Finally fixed.  Upgraded to iCloud 5.1 and then upgraded to Outlook 2016 and everthing now syncs like it did with Outlook 2013.  Thank you Apple.

Just out of interest, how did you upgrade iCloud for Windows? I had to go to the iCloud web site and redownload as if I was installing for the first time. Is there a way to 'update' from within iCloud that I didn't find?

    I can confirm.

Just installed iCoud 5.1 on my Win 7/64 with Office 2016.

Enabled Calendar and Task sync, no E-Mail nor Address Book.

Have to recover some duplicates, but everything works fine again.

Might have been a hard pice of work to Apple, but communication to customers definitely has room for improvement!

I did it by means of Apple Software Update.

Now why didn't I think of that?? Silly me. I am used to going to help and seeing a 'Check for Update' choice. Thanks

    Do you have office 365?

Because I have windows 7 pro x64 and no luck with the new update.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything, but nothing works.

    Yes, it's Office 365.

No problems, started Apple Software Update and got iCloud 5.1 offered. Installed it while Outlook was down.

Did you restart before setting iCloud up?
