Safe Boot: Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up - Apple Support
NVRAM: How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
Reinstall OS X from Recovery: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201314
If none of these work, try Internet Recovery: (same article as above)
Still no prevail, Startup Manager: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204417
If none of these options give you success, try running Apple Diagnostic Test: Using Apple Diagnostics - Apple Support
Even if diagnostics doesn't yield any errors, this is just an entry level test. If you can't get it to start up after these methods, most likely the hardware and will need to be serviced.
