I understand that you don't see a backup in iCloud for you iPad. Let's look over some troubleshooting to get it sorted out.
I would start with looking at your setup when making a backup to iCloud. Look at Settings > iCloud > Backup and make sure that it is enabled for backing up to iCloud. If it is all go there, go ahead and start a backup. Make sure that your iPad is connected to Wi-Fi and a power adapter while trying this so you don't have a sudden loss of power. If it reports and error, take a look at the article below to sort out any issues that might arise.
