Q: Itunes Error - iTunes cannot connect to Store Purchases - If you have any firewall software, make sure it has been set to allow communication on port 443.

My itunes has been fine. All of a sudden today it's now giving me this error: Itunes Error - iTunes cannot connect to Store Purchases - If you have any firewall software, make sure it has been set to allow communication on port 443.

I don't have my firewall turned on. I logged out of itunes, quit itunes, logged back in - still a problem.

Was there an update and this is now a bug? HELP!

Thanks!

I'm stuck too - nothing changed to my knowledge.  Nothing I do fixes it!

And another. Started recently and it keeps throwing up the dialog every minute or two. I didn't install the Java update yet (have been prompted, wasn't a convenient time).

I also don't use WiFi (wired iMac) although I am using Bluetooth (mouse). This is too coincidental to be a hardware issue though. The only updates I can see installed in the last 30 days were for MS Remote Desktop and Xcode. I'm thinking it's a routing / server-side issue somewhere causing this. Any chance it's geographic? In the UK here...

    I had the same problem - on a MacBookPro 15inch 2012.

Thanks to Linc Davis for his suggestions.

The problem did not recur in safe mode.

My console entries were very similar to those of CCAPL

Looking in System Prefs/users and Groups/login items I adjust 4 login items (including iTunes Helper)

I noticed that I'd just updated 3 apps including the "Panic" app "Transmit" and there was a login item "TransmitMenu"

I then checked the "Hide" checkbox for Transmit Menu and restarted - the problem went away.

I then unchecked it and restarted and the problem came back. (and repeated these 2 steps again with the same results.

So it seems that for me the "TransmitMenu" login item may be the culprit.

I hope it solves it for some of you - or maybe there are other factors?

Have a Macbook Air (in UK) with nothing added on and no extras, just as it i got it. Have only installed updates when prompted.

get the error message 3 or 4 times after logging on. No rhyme or reason for it as far as i am concerned. very very annoying.

Many of us have updated nothing - this has to be mainly at Apples' end

I've just done the new El Capitan upgrade to 10.11.2 and now don't seem to have a problem, using all of my original login items. (Tested twice so far)

    Maybe that's fixed the problem?

If not, I guess It could be a block of port 443 by my ISP's software?

I had the same problem this morning. A few minutes ago, I ran the app store and noticed some updates available.

I'm on OSX 10.10.5 and had several updates available, of interest:

    Security Update 2015-005 version 1.0

    Xcode version 7.2

    Safari Version 9.0.2

Command line tools (OSX 10.10) for XCode version 7.2

After that I rebooted, started itunes, have not seen the popup.

I suspect the security update fixed it, but have no way to confirm, I can just report that the problem seems to have stopped.

It's very likely if it stops for everyone that it was a back end situation at apple and that this is just a co-incidence.

I started seeing this problem on 12/7/15 as well. Despite everything working fine in iTunes and having access to Apple Music, iCloud Music Library, and also my store purchases, this error would keep popping up. What seems to have fixed it for me is going to iTunes>Preferences>Advanced and resetting the Dialog Warnings and resetting the cache.

    Hope that helps.

iTunes started throwing up the error message today for me after I downloaded a movie from the store.  No USB 3 peripherals, no changes to set up or firewall.  Apple support documents are very generic on this issue and assume the user has made changes.

That's not the case for me.

Just finished upgrading to 10.11.2 and I'm getting this error now.  iTunes was working just fine earlier and this happened immediately upon restart after the update.  And the messages keep popping up, even if I cancel the message.

Power is the only thing connected.

I've had this "iTunes Error" pop up for about a week now - so was seeing it before the latest El Capitan update, but it was intermittent. Applied update today and now it's on every iTunes startup, and if dismissed the cloud icon has a slash through it to signify a failure to connect I presume.

Tried all what was suggested on this thread plus a long shot of actually enabling the Firewall after first checking it was "allowing" iTunes under the advanced section, nothing seemed to work. So last try was to open iTunes on "My Music" tab, dismiss the error warning and then force quit iTunes - restarted half a dozen times now and see the cloud icon for a few seconds after which it disappears. I'm hoping it might be sorted, fingers crossed.
