Q: Can not see Photo in Apple TV

My Apple TV show in the PHOTO app  "your photo stream is empty". I have an iCloud photo library that I can see (photos + album) on my iPad, and my 2 iMac computer. Also I can access my "  Photo" via my iCloud account in any other Computer. Finally "home Sharing" is "on "in my iTune account.

What else can I do ?

Photo stream isn't the same as iCloud photo library, you'll need to enable it in settings before the device starts to add photos to photo stream.

    Dear Winston,

    thanks for the answer.

Did you mean to turn ON the iCloud photo sharing under =Setting = Account = iCloud =  of Apple TV I have this on and still doesn't work.

Any other suggestion, other than ...blood sweet and tears...

    Many, many thank, in advance.

    Best.

Hello, in Apple TV4, you can ONLY see shared icloud photo-albums.

    Maybe that is your problem.

You can see your full library if you open the "computers" app.  But your correct that the "photos" app will only show photo stream and albums you choose to share...

    Dear Patrick,

i can hardly believe that it would only function for the "shared albums" . There must be something else.

I now managed to have it worked for the photo stream, but not yet for all the other photos and album.

    AAny other idea ?

The photos app on the ATV will only include your photo stream or albums you have physically marked "share". To access your complete library you would need to access via the "computers app" instead of the "photos app"...

    Dear Protodd,

yes it does work trough the Computer app. But it should work trough the Photo app. This is one of the new big feature of the new Apple TV as grandly advertised by Cook himself at the presentation of two months ago.

there must be a way to do it.

if anyone knows , please share.

Then you should send feedback to Apple regarding the photos app.  This is how it was designed (thankfully for my setup). This allows me to select what I want available on my ATV. There are a bunch of junk photos I wouldn't want available as well as work related. But if push came to shove I can access them via the computers app...

Basically, open photos on your Mac, iPhone, iPad select photos and create a new album then on that album click share

    • Mac:
      1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences.

Excellent Protodd.  ut its not enough...you still need to activate "iTunes Photo sharing" in your Mac, in the app PHOTOS

Open Photo go "File" == go "Share" == go "iCloud sharing" and ....now a window open asking you to list the album you want to share , one at the time...

and they suddenly appear under the title 'Activity" (with a cloud sign) in the Photo app. And then they are appearing in the Photo App of the APPLETV.

    Great working with you.

Sorry, i had figured enabling the iTunes phot share was already done. And why I included the link in case you needed more.

Glad you got it squared away...
