Nov 9, 2015 7:29 PM in response to jetsellerby W4RH34D,It is completely broken. I already called in and it was all the way up to engineering. But anyway, it is what it is for now.

I have tried logging in & out several times, changing the settings but nothing ; it just does not work as expected! e.g. I disable "settings" for an account and once I logged in with the restricted account I could do what even I liked with no restrictions at all... please fix - this is serious !

Dec 5, 2015 7:12 AM in response to jetsellerby iachelini,★HelpfulUnfortunately I must fully agree: Parental Control seems inherently and completely broken. No setting whatsoever is stored.
Neither apps, nor websites, nor timing. It doesnt even generate log files. Since there hasn´t been released a patch for it, I start to think no one even cares. Is the group of parents using this very neat feature so little, that its not worse to bother?
Or am I missing something here?

Dec 6, 2015 6:25 PM in response to iacheliniby LukeLindblom,It's true, the middle "bubble" won't move to "allow only specific websites." Same problem with OS X 10.11.2 beta. They haven't fixed it.

Dec 8, 2015 5:39 PM in response to W4RH34Dby W4RH34D,They say "millions" of people use this stuff and yet this software is released in a state such as this. This has got to be a joke and I'm so lame I just keep the joke going instead of just accepting that this is junk and walking away from a life of wasted time.

Dec 8, 2015 6:01 PM in response to W4RH34Dby LukeLindblom,Brand new update-10.11.2- but it still doesn't work. I've left so much feedback. Everybody else that has the problem please leave feedback too! This problem needs to be fixed. I don't see 10.11.3 coming until around March though .

Dec 9, 2015 3:58 PM in response to jetsellerby mwisan,I want to add to the list of things that aren't working in Parental Control, under El Capitan:
If you go to the "Apps" tab of Parental Controls and a check the "Limit Applications on this Mac," you can check and un-check the apps you want your children to use or not. Unfortunately, this feature doesn't behave as expressed.
Once you have checked or un-checked the apps that you want to run/not-run, and begin testing you'll notice that you can this feature only blocked the 6-7 default programs (such as garageband etc), not the specific ones you tried to block. Tinkering with the available controls does not affect any change. It does not let you 'turn off' the apps you want.

Dec 15, 2015 1:24 PM in response to jetsellerby JaNd3r,I'm facing similar problems and I am really disappointed, as the parental controls was my argument "against" my wife to buy a much more expensive Mac for our 9yrs old.
Limiting apps seems to work, but checking or unchecking them in the parental control settings has no effect. Once app limiting is checked, I have to log in as my son and start each app once. On the first start it asks, wether app is allowed to be run always. I can confirm this with my admin password, works.
But a real mess is the web page filter. I want to restrict web access to the pages I have specified. At the same time I want my son to have access to the family Apple Music account and AppStore purchases. But if I open iTunes or the AppStore it seems, that these "apps" are nothing more than customized Safari views, because they inform me, that some Apple websites (e.g. https://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/blablah) cannot be opened due to parental restrictions. And worse: It's not sufficient to add https://itunes.apple.com, because the whole URL needs to be explicitly allowed, including variables.
Is there any known workaround to activate restricted web access without breaking iTunes and the AppStore?

Dec 17, 2015 12:37 PM in response to jetsellerby plsvn, same here on a new iMac: no way to customise Parental Controls, settings keep reverting to default
glad to see it wasn't me doing something silly
Mac OS 10.11 and iOS 9.0 are the greatest catastrophes I've seen in 20+ years using Macs: bravo Apple!!!
