Q: Upgraded my Macbook Pro (2009) to El Capitan, now asking for a 6 digit system lock pin?
Ok so I have had my Macbook since I bought it back in 2009 and I did have it registered on the find my iPhone app. Before doing this I even restarted it and my battery was having issues staying stuck at 0% so I did an SMC reset which worked fine, now the battery actually charges. The problem can't when after installing El Capitan, it asked to restart and upon restarting I keep getting asked for this six digit system lock pin. I never have even locked it or erased it via find my iPhone/Mac.definitely regretting upgrading to El Capitan as this is very frustrating. I've googled what to do and it seems like the only thing to do is to bring it in to Apple but I would need proof that it is mine and this is 6+ years that I've had this and definitely have no idea where the receipt from 6 years ago is now. Can they look up the serial number or contents and see there are files dating back to 2009 with my name as proof? So frustrating!! What do I do? Thanks so much guys. Also I've read forums where people ask this question and get accused of stealing the computer or buying it stolen. I purchased it from Apple online. Thanks so much everyone!
