Q: Itunes Error - iTunes cannot connect to Store Purchases - If you have any firewall software, make sure it has been set to allow communication on port 443.

My itunes has been fine. All of a sudden today it's now giving me this error: Itunes Error - iTunes cannot connect to Store Purchases - If you have any firewall software, make sure it has been set to allow communication on port 443.

I don't have my firewall turned on. I logged out of itunes, quit itunes, logged back in - still a problem.

Was there an update and this is now a bug? HELP!

Thanks!

    Me too. Started today.

I checked my version of iTunes and it's the latest 12.3.1.23 so I downloaded it again anyway and reinstalled iTunes.

Now I don't get the Firewall error. Took the big jump and tried buying a song and it worked !

    Macbook Pro

    El Capitan

    iTunes 12.3.1.23

    Firewall is OFF

Seems everyone effected by this issue has resolved it by alternative means (if they are lucky) - so are these varying fixes working or is it coincidental and the issue is in fact with Apple - just saying because have been having trouble logging in to this site this morning with proxy error and the Apple notice "will be back soon" - so are they having difficulties with the network even though they never seem to report such.

Yeah, I think something's been up on Apple's end.  I quit and restarted iTunes a couple of times and still got the error.  Rebooted the laptop and when iTunes launched again, no errors since.  I didn't reboot until later in the day so I don't think it had anything to do with the reboots/restarts.

Same issue on Windows Desktop.  No changes to hardware/software in a few weeks and was working fine last week. I'm on a wired network, so no WIFI issue. This must be desktop/notebook specific because my iPhone can access the App store and iTunes store.

    Apple shows no outage: https://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/

Many complaints on down detector though: http://downdetector.com/status/itunes/map/

And oddly enough, without doing anything, the desktop is now working.

Doubtful, unfortunately.   I've got El Capitan installed, everything up-to-date, have nothing plugged into my MBP (other than the power cord occasionally).  Problem started today for no rhyme or reason when I opened it and woke it up.  I had the firewall turned off--turned it on, just in case, since Apple.com certified sites are supposed to be waved through, but no luck.  Like a previous poster, I popped into terminal and there were no apple.com addresses listed.

I'll be trying SiHancox's solution next.

Same issue on my iMac 5K and MBP 2015 - it coincided with the upgrade to 10.11.2 yesterday - was working just fine all day and after the upgrade to 10.11.2 this error message appeared each time after launching iTunes. No issues under iOS.

Yesterday, I reinstalled iTunes and that fixed it for the rest of the day. Today the Error is back.

same here. first showed up this morning after update to 10.11.2. Everything else is up to date. Mid-2012 Macbook Pro Retina. Same exact experience with late 2012 Mac Mini, showed up immediately after updating to El Cap 10.11.2 on the first open of iTunes, was not occurring yesterday on either machine. Must be a bug on Apple's end.

    Same problem here

New 5k Retina iMac and a 3 month old Mac Book Pro - no changes to software or hardware made recently - and all of a sudden Im getting the same iTunes error message about being unable to connect to iTunes Store purchases - this has got to be an issue at Apple surely ? For so many people to be randomly affected like this across so many different platforms

Same issue, though it appears to only be affecting my late 2012 Mac Mini. It appears constantly.

Seems to not affect my Macbook Pro, nor my iOS devices.

Also, AppleTV is able to play my Apple Music subscription without issue.

Same Here, problem just started today. Can access all my purchased songs but all my Apple Music tracks are gone and same with the playlist.

Nothing has changed with my hardware setup and I'm running the latest El Capitan updates. Only way I was able to fix the problem was by closing iTunes and launching Spotify :/
