Nov 18, 2015 5:33 PM in response to carannasby Monarke4,Not a judgement, merely an observance. Good luck researching other products. Why should we spend more money to do something which was previously included? Like I said before seems I tunes will only be used to buy music and videos, and not much else it seems. You need to write a hard copy letter to Apple. Since posting the addresses again will probably have my post removed for "conducing a poll", I won't. Too bad users can't be messaged privately as on other boards. Maybe a Yah**gr88ps needs to be started.
Concerning the GOP (and Ted Cruz) along with the establishment Donkey's (like Hillary) don't work for the people. Only their donors. Hence Citizens United. You need to start with TYT on Youtube. They shed light on all sides. With the GOP though lately there is a lot more material. So much of it is a dog and pony show to get us distracted from the big things which count only to force us to fight among ourselves.

... and what we have paid for ? I bought my Windows, my Office on all our computers, I bought our iThings (9 in total in this big household), there was a functionality that was a part of the system and now it has been cut off without refund or even a warning or even an apology. Now if you want to maintain that functionality, you have to buy another app, which will work for some time and then you will have to buy upgrades because it will cease working with some future IOS versions sooner or later due to other "improvements".
For me personally not a big deal, I can afford it or I can use something else instead of Notes. For other people it is more of a problem, and it is just wrong and the way it is handled on the side of the vendor is disappointing.
It happened to me once that I bought an app on AppStore, I used it for about half a year and then it was destroyed by an update and taken off the AppStore for some licensing reasons. I want my 99 cents back, dear Apple.
My two older sons wish new iPhones for Christmas. They would deserve them, they do exceptionally well in school, they are polite and good boys and they don't get such expensive presents every Christmas and every birthday. (That is why they are polite and good boys :-).
Well, they will not get iPhones, they will get something else instead. btw an iPhone costs more that a month's salary of most people in this country. The money saved can be spent better. ... 99% of music that I listen to is from CD's that I bought. I am savvy enough to obtain it for free if I had wanted to, but I respect the musicians and I had the privilege of meeting many of them personally (I earned extra money when I was at college and a few years after that, 10-12 years in total, as an interpreter and that included our annual international jazz festival) so I choose to buy and use legal music as a matter of principle. That was the primary reason why I bought my first iPhone (after the music store functionality was massively advertised in this country) only to find that for licensing reasons no music purchases were available for this territory for several years to come. Stupid me. Well done, Apple.

Nov 19, 2015 1:12 AM in response to ErnestinaSimonsovaby Monarke4,It's as you have said, the decreased functionality. Now software will not seamlessly communicate with other pieces of software from outside vendors, so to speak. Xerox Star was a closed product but at least it was a great product which did almost everything! (1981-1989) lol
I tried to post this in a new thread. Another reason to get upset about. Compromising our Iphone's (and others) security is being questioned again. Seems I can't use certain words in sentences. youtu.be/j5PLs9PKzfY This is a TYT analysis

Nov 19, 2015 1:49 AM in response to Monarke4by ErnestinaSimonsova, btw funcionality: yesterday I could edit a post of mine to correct a typo, today no more. "...more than a month's..." is correct

Nov 23, 2015 5:02 PM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby mrabjohn,I have left feedback to complain about this. I have years of happily syncing outlook notes to my iPhone (and vice versa) and that has disappeared since upgrading to IOS 9.1

Nov 28, 2015 4:37 AM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby DrRajanD,This is Terrible feature loss!
Dear Apple (If you bother to listen to your customers!)
Re: Lost Notes synchronising feature with Outlook
I am very disappointed that since updating my iPhone software, I am unable to back up and synchronise the Notes on my iPhone with my PC. I rely heavily on this function, infact I bought my last 2 iphones because of this useful Notes features. I do not want to back up with icloud due to the sensitive nature of my notes.
I think it is disgraceful that Apple choose not to take their users into account and didn't inform users that upgrading their IOS would loose this feature.
I just bought an iPhone 6s for my wife, 2 days ago. It is unopened and I am going to return it back. As without this Notes back up feature, the iPhone is useless to us. Also unless this feature is solved, I have no reason to buy another IPhone.
This has been heavily discussed on your Apple Support communities, as it affects everyone - Why does anyone from Apple not bother to reply!!!!!

Nov 28, 2015 6:21 PM in response to bsalassiby rich000,This is not true. I did not do the 'upgrade' in IOS 9 to 'Upgraded Notes' and I still cannot get MS Outlook Notes to sync with iPhone. I have sent my feedback to Apple and hope they will respond by fixing the note sync feature which has stopped working with iOS 9.1. I have not done the upgrade in Notes on the iPhone and will not, since I knew I could not import graphics files into MS Notes; such graphics notes on the phone would be useless to me, but that seems to make no difference because know I can't sync any notes, any way.

IOS 9.1
iTunes 12.3
Windows 8.1 64

Nov 30, 2015 2:41 AM in response to DrRajanDby ErnestinaSimonsova,They don't bother to reply, but they are willing to spend time and effort deleting some of our posts. I am very disappointed.
The interesting post from NHL (thanks, NHL) on the legal aspects has also been deleted as far as I can see. This is ridiculous. Shame on Apple for this. It is a pity, I used to enjoy all these iThings but I have a sour taste now.

Dec 1, 2015 3:52 PM in response to ErnestinaSimonsovaby waynefromcorinth,Please give us the ability to sync plain notes again with Outlook and make the search work in plain notes on the iphone.
Or give us the ability to sync plain notes or upgraded notes to onenote. Something to sync and manage all your customers important notes from PC or Mac to our iphones or other apple products.

Dec 1, 2015 4:16 PM in response to waynefromcorinthby Kedavis,I haven't had a chance to post this, and I vaguely recall someone possibly already mentioning this. I now sync my MS Outlook 2007 on Windows 7 Notes with my iPhone 6s Plus using iCloud. All of my updates and new Notes now sync from my PC to my phone. I now have the original "local" Notes on my phone plus the iCloud Notes. This has mostly created duplicates, which I haven't had a chance yet to fix. I also haven't checked whether updates to my phone's Notes carry to my PC, but when I deleted a Safari bookmark on my phone it deleted it on my PC's Firefox browser too.
I was forced to make this change when Microsoft updated Hotmail. They said I had to "simply" delete and reinstall Hotmail in Outlook, which brought me no changes or improvements that I can see to Hotmail but in Outlook completely destroyed all the defaults for Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Notes, and Tasks. This of course destroyed phone syncing and in fact wiped out on my phone every single contact and calendar entry. The only way to restore functionality was to use iCloud, which had the benefit of restoring Note syncing.
BTW, when you lose and restore all your phone contacts, all your ring and text tone settings are wiped out too.

Dec 2, 2015 2:41 PM in response to waynefromcorinthby fogey22,I know this isn't what you want, it isn't what I want either -- but I use the OneNote app on my iDevices.
If I want to make a quick note w/o having to load ON, I make it in the Notes app & then cut & paste into ON later on.
Yes, it's a nuisance.
No, I don't like it.
Yes, I wish Notes synced to Outlook as it used to (it stopped some months ago, even before iOS9).
But since I don't think things will change on this I have to figure how to make things work.

Dec 3, 2015 8:11 AM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby jfb1357,Notes Syncing Workaround. (Yes it is a little labor intensive, but it is simple and relatively straightforward once it is set up.)
After you have upgraded Notes on your iPhone to the new format make sure that your Notes files on your iPhone show up under both ICLOUD NOTES and ON MY iPHONE NOTES. On your iPhone go to Settings iCloud, make sure that you are logged into iCloud and turn on Notes (make sure the switch on the right is green).
Using a browser on your PC log into iCloud. From the iCloud Home page click on Notes. All the Notes files on your iPhone that are under ICLOUD NOTES should appear in iCloud.
To "sync" Outlook Notes and iPhone Notes: Open iCloud in a browser and drill down into Notes. Open Notes in Outlook. Make your changes in the Outlook Notes file. Copy the changes that you made to the Outlook Notes file. Go to your browser, find the same Notes file in iCloud and paste the changes into the file. Almost immediately, the changes appear in your iPhone Notes file in the ICLOUD NOTES section.
Once you are comfortable using this method you can delete the Notes files on your iPhone under the ON MY iPHONE NOTES section and just use the Notes files under the ICLOUD NOTES section.
Not great, but workable.
iPhone 6S Plus, iOS 9.1, iTunes 12.3.1, Outlook 2007, Windows 7

Dec 3, 2015 12:06 PM in response to jfb1357by JayVee3,...except that all your notes are then in the Cloud, which is what we're all protesting about.
-
Dec 3, 2015 12:32 PM in response to JayVee3by jfb1357,Agreed. Just trying to post a relatively simple workaround for people who can allow their notes to be in the Cloud. Don't mean to downplay the fact that this was a nasty thing for Apple to do especially without warning.

Dec 9, 2015 6:00 AM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby david j.fromprague,iOS 9.2 - still no sign of outlook/itunes sync possibility. Do you think they have removed this for ever? Is this really possible?
