Q: My dvds that are made from iDVD will not play in a standard dvd player. Can anyone help me?*

I am running iDVD v 7.1.2(1158).  I used to be able to make dvds that would play in a standard dvd player.  As of today I cannot.  I do not know what has changed and I do not know what needs to be updated.  Can someone assist me?

The dvds that I can make will play from a disk image and they can play perfectly fine in a computer but not in a standard dvd player.  I am using an external dvd burner, (The same one  have always used) to create the dvds.  I am using iDVD to author them.

Here is a list of my hardware.

    Hey again,

I've done it two different ways now, I've managed to burn one DVD successfully but I'm guessing the laser it's having it's last days...

    Process #1 >

project in iDVD and burning the DVD while still in iDVD, resulted in the computer ejecting the DVD while burning ( burning exit line) but the message was that the DVD was successfully recorded. When I tried to play it in the DVD player it would try to load and it wouldn't read ( empty disk), when I tried to play it in the computer it would give me the message "disk not permitted"

    Process #2

saving the project as disk image and trying to burn it in disk utility at the lowest speed possible. It would eject the disk while burning it and gave me some kind of error mistake...

At the end what resulted ( only with TDK DVD's, the Verbatins wouldn´t even start burning) was the fastest speed available  (??!!) and I have the feeling that I'll have to burn a couple DVD's before I get a successful one, probably the laser getting ready to sleep

    Anyway, thanks for the help!!

    Take care!
