Dec 4, 2015 1:03 PM in response to SIAPrezby hhgttg27,Only album artwork is retrieved from the iTunes Store. Other metadata (artist, album title, track names, etc.) comes from the separate Gracenote service. Do you get any error message when iTunes attempts to retrieve track names?

Dec 4, 2015 1:41 PM in response to hhgttg27by SIAPrez,Thank you for clarification.....I select "import CD" and a yellow triangle with ! inside it pops up with "No Error". After importing it (I've done it 3 times now) each track (all 14 of them) is showing up as separate CD, not consolidated into one

Dec 5, 2015 7:54 AM in response to SIAPrezby hhgttg27,Hmmm ... so when you load the CD but before you import it what do you see? Just "Track 01", "Track 02", etc? After importing, when you see tracks split into multiple albums, how are the latter named?
As far as I can tell the strange "No error" error is caused by a corrupted preferences file - others have also reported an equally misleading "User not recognized for online use" error when accessing GraceNote. This should be resolved by one of the following procedures (details here are specific to Windows XP - for Windows 7 or later, the principles are the same but some of the folder locations are different).
- Exit iTunes
- Run Windows Explorer, enter %appdata% in the address bar, press <return>. This will open the folder C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data. Then open the Apple Computer folder and within this the iTunes folder.
- Delete the following files:
- CD Info.cidb
- com.apple.iTunes.Gracenote.plist
- Restart iTunes
- Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If this doesn't work:
- In iTunes, select Edit > Preferences and make a note (or take a screenshot) of your preferences settings in all relevant tabs
- Exit iTunes
- Repeat step 2 in the previous procedure to open the C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes folder.
- Delete the following file:
- iTunesPrefs.xml
- Restart iTunes
- Restore your iTunes preferences settings to those that you noted in step 1.
- Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If this one didn't work (and most people have reported that the problem is fixed by one of the two procedures above):
- Exit iTunes
- In Windows, select Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. Find the entry for iTunes, right-click and select Repair.
- When this process has finished, restart iTunes
- Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If the problem persists, you may need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes - see turingtest2's user tip on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for details of the steps needed to completely remove all iTunes components before reinstalling.

Dec 9, 2015 10:15 AM in response to hhgttg27by SIAPrez,Sorry, but none of this worked.......I'm on Windows 7 Professional. Would that make a difference? About ready to blow it up......we got new PC (we work in a Terminal Server environment, but ITUNES isn't within that) and ever since those installed, lost all ability to import CD.
When I import, I get 14 (which is the number of tracks on "25" CD) unnamed multiple"albums" in the menu.

Dec 9, 2015 10:19 AM in response to SIAPrezby turingtest2,If iTunes doesn't fetch CDDB information for an album before you rip it you can enter the information yourself. At minimum adding the Album title and the Album Artist will make iTunes keep the tracks together. You can then fill in the other details at your leisure, or see if Get CD Track Names will work at a later date.

Dec 9, 2015 10:21 AM in response to SIAPrezby hhgttg27,Do you see any errors? Have you configured iTunes to automatically retrieve track names etc. from GraceNote (Edit > Preferences > General), or are you requesting track names after loading the CD? If you're not seeing any errors, I wonder if the CDDB data for that album is present in GraceNote but is corrupted - if nothing's retrievable you would normally see the resulting tracks in iTunes being grouped as "Unknown Album" by "Unknown Artist". If iTunes is splitting the songs into multiple albums it suggests that there's something in the retrieved metadata that's triggering this behavior.
I'd test it myself, but I'm more likely to volunteer for anesthetic-free dental treatment than acquire an Adele album

Dec 9, 2015 10:26 AM in response to turingtest2by SIAPrez,I have the box checked to automatically retrieve CD information, and it's not Adele (which is for my wife......not me) but I had same problem with a George Strait import.
These are CD purchased from a store that I'm trying to import......she listens to the actual CD in her vehicle, I have to have it on IPAD, IPOD etc. for her.

Dec 9, 2015 10:39 AM in response to SIAPrezby turingtest2,The CDDB catalogue is large, it has both errors and omissions. If the tracks are going on an older iPod then a common value for Artist is needed to link things together on the device.

Dec 9, 2015 10:41 AM in response to turingtest2by SIAPrez,I can't even get the CD to be recognized/loaded correctly so their not making it to the IPOD. I'm trying to import the CD on a PC

Dec 9, 2015 10:56 AM in response to SIAPrezby turingtest2,If iTunes won't import the CD to the computer try Windows Media Player or CDex. Some CDs come with protection schemes that stop you ripping them to your computer.

Dec 9, 2015 11:19 AM in response to turingtest2by SIAPrez,ITunes will import it to the computer, but with individual unnamed tracks as the Album Title. So for 14 songs, I have 14 unnamed new albums showing up, and it won't recognize/pull info from Gracenotes

Dec 9, 2015 11:26 AM in response to SIAPrezby turingtest2,So enter the information by hand using Get Info. As given fill in Album Artist, Album and Artist as a minimum to link the tracks into one album, then add the extra information. You can sort by date added to get all of the tracks listed near each other, click the first, then shift-click the last. Ctrl+I opens Get Info. In the Songs view F2 on the keyboard edits the current song name.

Dec 9, 2015 12:19 PM in response to turingtest2by SIAPrez,I can do that, it's just time consuming and more frustrating than anything. Prior to installing new PC's, importing CD's into the library were a breeze and without glitches.

Dec 9, 2015 12:25 PM in response to SIAPrezby turingtest2,Adding Album, Artist, and Album Artist should be a work of moments, but doing the rest by hand is a drag. Going back to your "No error" error I wonder if something is blocking iTunes from accessing CDDB. If you tried clearing out all of the preference files mentioned above, and reinstalled iTunes, then I'm not sure what else to suggest.
