Dec 4, 2015 1:21 PM in response to appuse16by Lawrence Finch,It's not a big deal, and there is no need to close the Settings app. It uses no power, no data, and is not running even when it appears in the Quick Launch screen. It only runs when you open it and change a setting, and even that use is minimal.
I fact, there is no reason to close ANY app that way, unless it is misbehaving.

Dec 9, 2015 10:06 AM in response to appuse16by appuse16,anyone able to check and see if this is resolved with iOS 9.2 update?

Dec 9, 2015 10:13 AM in response to appuse16by Mister Funkee,@ appuse16: Jep, seems that it has been solved with 9.2. No opened apps after restart beside the ones I indeed had opened. Nice! That's how it should be.
@ Laurence: Man please. You really don't get the point of this whole discussion plus you really don't get the reason behind this particular feature. PLEASE let the matter rest once and for all. No one is interested in your opinion cause everyone knows it's just nonsense. Thank you.

If it's nonsense, it's nonsense that Apple believes, too.
Please do not attempt to dictate who can post and what they can post.

Dec 9, 2015 10:39 AM in response to Meg St._Clairby Mister Funkee,@ Meg St._Clair: Are you kidding? Do you know what this nonsense Laurence tries to convince everybody is about? He tries to tell everyone that a bug (that now with 9.2 was adressed and eliminated!!) was "no problem", "no big deal" bla bla. If no one wanted this bug to be eliminated, why several people discussed it here?
And what the heck are you talking about with:
Meg St._Clair wrote:

Apple was aware of this bug, cause it has been corrected with the roll-out of 9.2.
Maybe you really should read entire threads before posting useless lines. People had been truly bugged out by the repitative and useless lines that this Laurence guy wrote all day. He has now clue what he's talking about, but still tries to convince people with pure humbug.

I have been reading this thread from the beginning. It's unfortunate that some people are so stuck on their foolish misconceptions that they can't take advantage of the knowledge that Lawrence (whose name you should at least bother to spell properly) is offering. He knows quite a bit more about this that most people.

Dec 9, 2015 10:57 AM in response to Meg St._Clairby Mister Funkee,@ Meg St._Clair Please tell us about the benefit of his opinion.
a) he wasn't even aware of this bug
b) he tried to convince people that this is a feature
c) after I've proved him dead wrong, he still wrote repitative nonsense like "no need to close apps at all" etc.
I really don't see ANY use of his contribution tho this thread, and I'm absolutely incurious if he writes everyday allday on other threads (his 34.000+ points actually tell that he has nothing to do beside writing sth into this forum, congratulation Lawrence lol. EDIT: I see you even got more points than him, wow. Impressive).
And now: Tell me about my misconception. I'm VERY curious about what's coming now.

The misconception is that it matters if something is in the Recents tray. It doesn't. I do not, however, expect you to believe me. Nor do I care whether you do or not. However, what I do care about is your ad hominem insults of someone who is an incredible asset to these forums. Disagree with whomever you want but do it civilly, respect their right to post and don't ever stoop to personal attacks. Doing so makes you look bad, not them.

Dec 9, 2015 11:12 AM in response to Meg St._Clairby pedz,I agree with Meg.
Lawrence's basic premise is that there is no correlation between the number of apps in the Recents tray and performance -- which is true. He had many in the tray but good performance. I had very few and poor performance. Without correlation, there can hardly be causation. Or, to rephrase, many were assuming a particular symptom to be a problem when in fact it was not even a consistent symptom.
I hope he continues to help people.

What? This was a bug. The feature, like it was intended to be, was a quick summary plus quick way to switch between recently used apps. This feature is also described on the official Apple homepage. I quoted the equivalent source in one of my precise answers above. And yes, this bug mattered to several people. Read the thread. You also will read several people that are super annoyed by the rag your super duper friend told in his posts.
And now: PLEASE give us a break. The bug is eliminated, nothing else matters, especially your wasted try to defend your super professional who doesn't have ANY clue what this is all about. Thank you.
@ pedz:
I see your point, but this is not the point of discussion. It wasn't about any performance issues etc. Still this was a bug and it was annoying to people who actually tried to take advantage of the feature of quick-switching between apps. That's it, a bug, simple and plain.
And btw: As Apple has eliminated this bug, this is the final proof that it was sth that had to done. Now quick-switch is back, and that's the good news to all people using the feature as a quick way to switch between important apps.

You're making yourself look bad again with those personal attacks. Stick to the facts.

Dec 9, 2015 11:40 AM in response to Mister Funkeeby crapple95,I really hope you re-evaluate how you respond to people lawerence seeing as you were 100% wrong about this not being an issue, As apple has now fixed it (allegedly, I have reached out to the user who complained and told them to update now). Be a man and apologize to all the people you slammed with your denials and misdirections.
The point of user support forums is to help people, not collect forum points or be prolific posters or whatever. Cat lady obviously doesn't get this as well. I could care less that someone has 40k posts on a particular forum. That doesn't somehow make them better than any other user, or in this case as can be seen, more correct. Especially if that person is denying that a verifiable issue exists and making people think that they are "holding it wrong". I realize this is an apple forum, so smug arrogance is probably more prevalent here than most other user forums but in the end, he was wrong. This bug was a legitimate issue that annoyed users and has allegedly now been fixed, so it was an issue.
I don't care who he is or who you are or what they have done for any community. Wrong is wrong and people should realize when they are wrong and not make excuses for themselves or others.

Dec 9, 2015 11:52 AM in response to crapple95by Mister Funkee,@ crapple95: Exactly. That's 100% my opinion (I think you had intnded to reply to Lawrence / Cat lady's posts, right? Not mine, as we have the same thoughts on the whole topic plus the nonsense of thse two "super-experts", just saying, cause it COULD be misinterpreted as aimed at me in a way)

You don't get points for posts. You ONLY get points when someone who posts an original message clicks a button reporting a reply as Helpful (5 points) or Solved (10 points). With 40K points that means somewhere between 4,000 and 8,000 visitors who created a new discussion found a reply of mine useful. It's clear that you didn't, but I don't care whether you did or not. Lots of others have found my replies helpful.

Dec 9, 2015 12:07 PM in response to Lawrence Finchby Mister Funkee,@ Lawrence: Cool, you had been helpful to people. Nice. But everyone knows that the majoritiy of all forums on this planet is filled up with users who are to lazy to inform themselves about features or the right way to use a certain gadget. But no matter: In this particular case you had been proven dead wrong several times and people told you to stop repeat the same opinion you have over and over.
So let's stop this also here in peace, THE BUG HAS BEEN SPOTTED AND EMILIMINATED BY APPLE. So it's obvious that even Apple had the believe to do sth against it, and since yesterday it's all good. Everyone can be wrong sometimes, you had been wrong, but it's not important anymore. Problem's solved. Period.
