Q: Itunes Error - iTunes cannot connect to Store Purchases - If you have any firewall software, make sure it has been set to allow communication on port 443.

My itunes has been fine. All of a sudden today it's now giving me this error: Itunes Error - iTunes cannot connect to Store Purchases - If you have any firewall software, make sure it has been set to allow communication on port 443.

I don't have my firewall turned on. I logged out of itunes, quit itunes, logged back in - still a problem.

Was there an update and this is now a bug? HELP!

Thanks!

Have you guys recently did the Security Update 2015-005? I think the problem may be related.

Tampa Mom, how did you submit the case? I tried to and it just said to call them with the case number.

I don't have time to sit on the phone for this.

Thank's for the suggestion paulfromsaint james, this worked for me.

Rebooting did nothing, but shutting down without having 'reopen windows' checked did the trick.

I had to activate icloud music library again, but other than that  everything's back to normal.

Going to 10.11.2 doesn't get rid of this problem.

Same issue, turned itunes for the first time in a few days and got the same message. I went and disabled firewall on my router and then on windows as well. So no firewall and getting the same thing.

I got this same problem... did some research and it seems to be caused either by some new hardware or software... in my case, it started just when i installed Poedit and VLC player, checking preferences in both apps i noticed that vlc has a feature that allows it to control iTunes pause and playback and just disabled it and voila! the 443 firewall port error was gone forever. I hope this helps, just try to remember if you installed anything recently.

I don't know why this would be the case but I have an observation.  I have an iTunes library on my Mac and another one on my Time Capsule.  I get this error when connected to the Time Capsule library - but not when I'm connected to the library that's on the Mac itself.  Does that prompt any thoughts?

This may have been covered briefly before, but it seems that if you disable iCloud Music, close the window so it removes your iCloud music, then re-enable it this error is cleared.

The same can be accomplished by signing out of your iTunes account all together, then sign back in.

Had two machines with this issue and the above worked on both.

Those aren't the "latest" releases of iTunes and OS X, but I'm having the same problem as everyone else in this threat, but on OS X 10.11.2 and iTunes 12.3.1.23. The pop-up error message is very frustrating and annoying, especially since everything else in iTunes seems to be working correctly, iTunes store purchases and everything.

I'm happy I could help at least one person.  Hopefully others try it and we can get some numbers behind it! A lot of people are trying a lot of complicated things... Occam's Razor!

Thanks, worked for me so far (24h)

    Didn't quite work for me.

Did a purchase for an album I've wanted for a while. The purchase went through but the download didn't happen. Kept timing out. I had to keep clicking on "Check for Available Downloads".  Kept getting server timeout errors.  Finally downloaded the songs.

Something's wonky at the Apple end.

P.S. I also put in a support request. They'll get back to me within 48 hours. I just know it.

None of the solutions others have proposed have worked for me.

Apple Canada responded to my support ticket within a few minutes and reposted the last item I downloaded into my account.  However, the new one nor any of my other purchased items play, (just black no sound.)

In my case I normally reboot WITHOUT having the "reopen windows" box checked. On a hunch, I rebooted (box NOT checked). Opened iTunes, got the error (plus, interestingly, the welcome window that pops up for a new install). Checked the "reopen" box, left ONLY Firefox and iTunes open (having cleared the error dialog), rebooted. iTunes reopened and I have not seen the error during the past hour. So whatever way you normally reboot, try the other way and maybe you'll slay the dragon...
