Q: Apple TV 4th Gen lagging

To the Point:

I have an iMac 21.5 inch, late 2013; with version 10.11.2. I also have the latest Apple TV. Air play works for a bit then it begins to lag so much to the point that it will no longer show anything on the TV screen. All my devices (iPhone, iPad & iPod) share the same network with my Airport Extreme on a 5GHZ connection. However, when I use Airplay with my iPhone to the apple TV it lags for a bit, but then everything works smooth with no problems at all.  Unlike the my iMac, where lagging gets worse to the point of showing no video.  The more I try the worse it gets. I even downloaded the latest update for Apple TV and nothing. The screen is now black, I only get audio and the iMac disconnect by itself  from Airplay. How can you fix this problem?

P.S.: How come the Apple TV has the option for automatically download new updates, but it never does. In two occasions I had to do it manually...

iMac, null

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.

    1. Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
    2. Check that both devices are on the same network (System Preferences > Network, on the Mac and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
    3. Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    4. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    5. Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    6. Restart your computer.

If you are still having problems, try turning off bluetooth if it's enabled, also try using 802.11n for wifi if you are currently using either 802.11b or 802.11g.
