Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It looks like iTunes isn't playing a video from iTunes U. First, try opening and playing the file directly using these steps from If you see a "This movie requires QuickTime" message in iTunes 12.1 or later:
To play the files that need QuickTime, follow the steps below:
- Right-click on the content, then select "Reveal in Finder" or "Show in Windows Explorer."
- Right-click on the file, then click Open With.
- In the pop-up menu that appears, click QuickTime.
If you don't have QuickTime on your computer, download and install it. Then follow the steps again.
Since this video is from 2010, you may also want to try playing it in the previous version of QuickTime, as well--Installing QuickTime Player 7 on your Mac.Sincerely.

Thank you for the reply. However, I'm not sure this will solve my problem. The file is not on my computer. I am trying to download it from iTunes U and I get this error. My guess is that the file that iTunes U is linking to is an old file or the link in iTunes U is not understood by the current operating system (or current version of iTunes or Quicktime).
If you go to iTunes U and try to download the file (or any file for this particular class/event), you should see what I mean (unless the problem is really on my end).

Thanks for your reply.
I see what you mean and do get the same result when playing videos from this course. It doesn't appear to be an issue on your end.
If you haven't already, use the "Report a Concern" link on the left hand side of the course page to submit a report that the podcast episodes don't play.
Best Regards.
