Q: Can't update apps

I've having several problems updating app on my iPad Air (iOS 9)

I've tried all kind of stuff.

"Automatic updates" doesn't work.

"Update all" (button on top when in the app store / updates) doesn't work.

For most app I could update them "manually" by, once by one, tapping repeatedly the update button until the "circle" starts over and then waiting for full individual download and installation.

Still in the end, 4 apps won't update, whatever I do.

I tried :

  • Signing out of iTunes, etc. Then signing in.
  • Turning off automatic updates.
  • Turning off automatic time update (I read that somewhere??)
  • Trying to go "into the app" in iTunes and pressing update there
  • Always making a full power cycle between each step

Those **** 4 apps won't update.

I have, namely, HearthStone within those 4 apps, and so I can't play no mo' because it cries to be updated and I just CAN'T !

What else can I do please?

OS X Mavericks (10.9), 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 Go DDR3

    Hello Uge,

After reviewing your post, It sounds like you are not able to update a few specific apps. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting. I would recommend you read these articles, they may be able to help troubleshoot the issue.

If the app you want to update is running try to close it and then try to update.

Force an app to close in iOS - Apple Support

    2. Swipe left to find the app you want to close.
    3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.

Try to delete the apps and then try to redownload the from iTunes then try to update again.

Delete music, movies, apps, and other content from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Remove an app using the steps below:

    1. Tap and hold on the app until it jiggles.
    2. Tap the   in the upper-left corner to delete.

You might be asked to confirm that you want to delete the app. If you see a pop-up that says, "Deleting [app name] will also delete all of its data," tap Delete.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day.

This issue may fix itself by deleting one of the apps as Mario49 describes in the 2nd box of his comment.

I've had a 5 showing in App Store and 5 apps pending update for a few days, and couldn't find a way to get them to update. After deleting 2 of them (Skype & Chrome), the app store was 'reset' to be able to install the other 3.
