Q: AirDrop, iOS and OS X

Since iOS 9 and El Cap AirDrop haven't been working between Mac and iOS device. Now, with 9.2, I don't think the solution will appear any day soon, so maybe I have to do something about it. iOS-to-iOS works just well. Mac just doesn't see my iPhone and my iPhone doesn't see my Mac.

The thing is that I have no glue how to fix it. No restart will work and I've pretty much tried every fix suggestion I've found online. Is someone else seeing this problem and perhaps have succeeded in resolving it?

Latest softwares and everything should be fine.

    Hi Jaska121,

The resource below provides some resources for using AirDrop.  Can you confirm your Mac meets the system requirements and check the settings below?  I've highlighted some of the key information.  Click on the link for complete details.

Use AirDrop to send content from your Mac

    AirDrop system requirements

To send items to an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you need a 2012 or newer Mac model with OS X Yosemite or later, excluding the Mac Pro (Mid 2012).

To send items to another Mac, you need:

    • MacBook Pro (Late 2008) or newer, excluding the MacBook Pro (17-inch, Late 2008)
    • MacBook Air (Late 2010) or newer
    • MacBook (Late 2008) or newer, excluding the white MacBook (Late 2008)
    • iMac (Early 2009) or newer
    • Mac Mini (Mid 2010) or newer
    • Mac Pro (Early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card, or Mid 2010)

Turn on and set up AirDrop

    On Mac computers:

    1. Choose Go > AirDrop from the menu bar in the Finder. An AirDrop window opens. If Bluetooth or Wi-Fi is turned off, you'll see a button to turn it on. AirDrop turns on automatically when Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are on.
    2. To receive files from everyone instead of only those in your Contacts app, you can use the “Allow me to be discovered by” setting at the bottom of the AirDrop window.

    • Make sure that both devices have AirDrop turned on and are within 30 feet (9 meters) of each other.
    • If AirDrop on the receiving device is set up to receive items from contacts only, make sure that both devices are signed in to iCloud. Also make sure that the email address or phone number associated with your Apple ID is in the Contacts app of the receiving device.

    Hope that helps ...

TThis was very helpful and that a great article. However, it did not ssolve my problem. Mac is mid-2013 MacBook Air. AirDrop has been turned on and off. Both devices are on the same iCloud account. Still not seeing each other.
