Q: Is Iphone 5 worth updating to iOS 9.2?

I am seeing a lot of issues that people are having: battery drain, crashes, call issues (i think).

i had issues trying to update to iOS 8.4.1 earlier..

i saw this article at WIRED.. it says it is the most common 9.1 and 9.2 problems and solutions..

i am still having other issues with the battery seemingly from just updating apps

a lot of people that i know replaced their phone, but i think that some tried updating, but did not wait until 9.1 or 9.2. However, i am considering this update. But I don't want to have more problems. I already have a lot of problems. I even updated some apps again on Wednesday night, and it seems like the battery drains even faster, even though I hardly am using the apps! I still have the same issues from my previous post. But I thought that maybe the issue might resolve if i install the iOS update. But I don't need it to be worse. But if it has always been a software problem, and then the battery cannot handle the software, and perhaps there is a compatibility issue, then is it going to fix it?  I haven't read any reviews yet that a person using an iPhone 5 has been without issues, or has resolved all the issues completely. i want my apps to work better and not be draining the battery even when i am not using them. I want my functioning battery to still be lasting several hours and not have some compatibility issues mess up the entire phone.

one article says that there are reasons to install it, and reasons not to install it yet. what is a lightning cable?

The number of issues after the update is not critical. Apple has millions of customers all over the world. You may see all this messages from users encountering battery issues in this community. I have updated my iOS recently. So far no issues.

I personally will NOT be updating my 5 to iOS 9.2. I'm still running 8.4.1 because I'm so paranoid about the issues I've experienced on my 4 when I updated to 7. It got to the point my phone couldn't do the simplest of tasks without locking up or crashing. it caused my phone to overheat and battery problems that resulted in 1) the battery swelling and cracking the back glass and 2) the screen to get so hot it started cracking. I tried running only the ABSOLUTE necessities and they constantly crashed (By constantly, we're talking everytime I tried opening something, it would crash at least 10 times before opening, if it did at all. I had one app crash 150 times - I counted- before I just gave up opening it). I couldn't hang up my own phone because when I got a call, screen froze. I don't trust these updates anymore and won't be potentially messing up this phone, just to have to buy another.... And that's but a small portion of the problems I had. It started out fine and started doing this after several months. I could temporarily "fix" it by wiping the device and adding everything back, but within 2 weeks, it was doing it again....

    I concur with thunderzzz.

I have my iPhone 5 updated to iOS 9.2 and so far have not had any problems with it at all.

That was the problem with my 4. The first couple months, it ran fine. Then it was crash city....
