Sep 26, 2015 8:18 AM in response to kfeeneyby longbeachlocal,This has been an ongoing issue for me, but the restarts are becoming more and more frequent. Had 4 restarts in a row within 1 hour. Very disappointing.

Sep 28, 2015 8:36 AM in response to longbeachlocalby StLedger,Same issue. Been having it for some time now. Not network related. Almost always when pausing from within Netflix. Disappointing response from Apple on this!!

Oct 1, 2015 10:47 AM in response to kfeeneyby Evan Pimental,I'm going to second what others have said about this being a photo screensaver issue. I have two Apple TV 2nd Generation, both were restarting several times a day. I had been using very large iPhoto/Aperture libraries as screen savers on both. I did a factory restore on both Apple TVs (Settings -> General -> Reset -> Restore), and reconfigured everything EXCEPT the screensaver - I left that set to one of Apple's default. Since then, no crashes. I'm not sure if a restore is absolutely necessary, or if simply removing the (Flickr, iCloud, iPhoto/Aperture/Photos) screensaver is enough. Someone with more time than me may want to do some testing to figure out the exact issue, but it seems like a good place to start.

Oct 27, 2015 10:14 AM in response to douggartby Yorick2a,the issue appears to be related to a possible memory leak with netflix (can not speak for hulu or other apps as i do not use them) but the issue seems to be with the AppleTV 2 mostly as i not heard any issues with the AppleTV 3 other than buffering audio issues after about hour of play through a movie. but our appleTV 2 resets itself with a reboot about once or twice a day depending on use. it seems to do it more after more about hour of play and when u pause it then come back to it later. I done some looking it is mostly likely a memory leak with the Netflix app. It appeared right after the last update to the AppleTV before they stopped support. I do not have issues with audio streaming or airplay from ipad or computer to the appleTV other then it is constantly asking for my password all the time now (that started after i updated to iOS 9 on the ipad) . Since we can no longer update the AppleTV 2 we are opting for a new one. Were considering AppleTV 3 but not sure how long after 4 has been out they will discontinue support for the AppleTV3. So selling the AppleTV 2 on ebay for $100 so that someone can jail brake it or might do that myself and sell for $150. They are worth the most out of all the other models for that function that they can be jail broken. maybe use the $ to buy a second siri remote for $79
The issues are only gonna get worse unless you are using apps like netfix the appleTV 2 works fine. Mine too is hardwired so no connections issues for me either as it plays from apple's servers and from my computer just fine.

Oct 31, 2015 11:54 AM in response to douggartby jellome,I am experiencing the same issue with my apple tv 2. I do not think that it is an issue with the network or memory. A theory that we came up with was that it is overheating.

Nov 27, 2015 6:22 AM in response to kfeeneyby OBRyan1,I have an Apple TV 2nd Gen and also have been experiencing the restart issue every time we watch Netflix. I just got off the phone with Apple Support and was told to switch HDMI ports and then restart the Apple TV. I did that, but I haven't watched anything yet, so I'm not sure if the solution worked but will test it later tonight.
Apple indicated that this is a known issue, called it memory leak, specifically with Netflix and Hulu. I was somewhat encouraged to hear that they were aware of the issue and have something to use to try to solve the issue. Hopefully, we will have the issue resolved.

Dec 11, 2015 7:53 AM in response to kfeeneyby 100 Page User Agreement,Having the same problem with my Apple TV. In the middle of watching Netflix or HBO GO or streaming something from my phone it just restarts for no reason, often at least once per day. Losing network connection should not cause the whole system to restart... that's completely pointless. This is obviously a neglected glitch. Can't wait to get a Roku and not have to worry about dumb issues like this anymore. I'm normally a fan of apple's products but to stop supporting expensive items after a couple years makes me want to jump ship from Apple TV.

Dec 11, 2015 8:04 AM in response to 100 Page User Agreementby Protodd,I have 3 ATVs - gen 2&3 in addition to the gen 4 I just bought. I have not had any of those issues on any of my devices. But you should absolutely buy a streaming device that meets your personal needs. However it's not an "unsupported device"...

Dec 11, 2015 8:11 AM in response to Protoddby 100 Page User Agreement,Thanks for your response. I have one of the early generation Apple TVs, and I haven't gotten updates in a while. I've noticed some new UI updates in friends' systems (not present in mine), and my system also stopped supporting YouTube which irritates me. My concern is that I get a new "supported" Apple TV, but then in a few years certain apps and features again stop being supported.
