If you put in your full email address with domain, and the proper p[assword, it will generally auto-configure.

If it fails, you will need the server address. Note that you need the outlook web services address, not the traditional exchange addres used by windows clients (whcih use the microsoft IMAPi protocol).

It sounds like you have your email address or password wrong, nothing at all to do with configuration or El Cap

Ask your IT department what version of Exchange server they are running. It may not be compatible with El Capitan.

This is from the El Capitan specs:

Requires Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 Update Rollup 4, Exchange Server 2010, or Exchange 2013. Auto-setup requires enabling the Autodiscovery feature of Microsoft Exchange Server.

    Ginger-

Are you sure you have your email and password correct and complete? I hate to say it, but that appears to be the problem.

Mine works.  Lots of others' work.

You are typing in your complete email address, correct (not just your userID)?

And it says "...wrong username or password"?  The error for a connection problem is typically something lile "outlook cannot contact the exchange server" - so its sounds like you are inadvertently making a mistake.  confirm everything; maybe reset your password..?

The only thing that worked after years of no exchange on my iPhones, iPads and macbook was entering this in both incoming internal and external spots:
