Same exact problem with me. Been searching for a solution but not finding anything. Very frustrating.

iMac OS X El Capitan 10.11.2 Safari Version 9.0.2

I have updated Flash. Cleared all cookies but nothing helps.

Try pausing the video and then start playing it again.

You are welcome. I haven't seen a post that provides a permanent solution. Everything is a workaround.

Same issue as everyone else. YouTube or Google will NOT assist you in fixing this because they told me it is Apples problem due to the updates OS X.

Apple needs to slow down and release their updates when they're not buggy.

If anyone finds a REAL FIX please update this page.

he pause/play isn't a fix but more of an annoyance.

ya idk why apple doesn't seem to find these issues before they release the update. This issue is causing a lot of hinderance in peoples lives. F.lux also seems to never work right with Safari but works perfect with google chrome. I contacted f.lux about the hard blue artifacts on the screen while watching youtube and Netflix videos in fullscreen mode in Safari and they replied back saying the same thing that it is a apple and safari issue as all other browsers work fine. Im probably most likely going to end up just using chrome as my primary browser because safari always has some type of issue going on.

I'm having the same problem too.  It's weird, but pausing and restarting video does fix it.  Strange bug.  Hopefully Apple fixes it soon

There's never any excuse for things like that. Be it myself or anyone else we should not have to pause and play to get it to perform correctly. I call BS and Apple has become lazy and slow about listening to the customer. Why release a botched Update? I'm starting to think I own a Windows Laptop that needs 1,000 updates a month and still never fixes anything.

Starting a new discussion because this one is marked, SOLVED so it will be ignored.

I have the solution for this error with Safari and Youtube. It's very easy, after all. Follow these steps:

    1. Download ADWARE MEDIC (http://www.adwaremedic.com/). It's the ONLY APPLICATION authorized by Apple.

    2. Install, open and click on "Scan".

    3. Remove all malware.

    4. Close the application.

    5. Open "Finder", hold down the Alt button and click on "Go to" > "Library".

    6. Look for the "Preferences " folder and duplicate it in the same place.

    7. Now, you must have "Preferences" and "Preferences copy". If you have, delete "Preferences".

    8. Restart your computer.

    9. Check Youtube.

Please stop spamming this advertisement to all the threads about this issue. The "malware" in question is the latest update to El Capitan, which has created this issue for everybody.

@ Emissary1, Thanks for the support as I didn't think nerk88 was trying to listen to me when I told him Apple Support had me scan for issues and determined it was the OS X and Safari update. It has no ill effect with other browsers that I tried and altering files will not happen on any of my Macs. I don't like workarounds so I'll wait for an update that actually fixes the issue.

Disable f.lux and you can use safari again. If you don't want to disable f.lux then you have to use google chrome. Don't know what the issue is with f.lux and safari but f.lux said its an apple issue and they have to fix it. Good luck!
