Q: el capitan cardDAV sync broken?

Hello all

According to this bugtracker: https://github.com/owncloud/contacts/issues/1058

does a problem with the carddav synchronisation exist.

As I experience the same problem and cannot sync with ownCloud over cardDAV it would be great to be able to fix this problem.

Thank you for your answer in advance.

Does anybody get information from Apple when they are going to fix this issue?

I'd like to say to Apple that CardDAV is important functionality for many users and I would ask Apple for official comment on this issue hoping they read this forum.

I am having troubles with Kerio Connect and El Capitan Contacts.app syncing. It appear that any additions or changes can break sync with a triangle exclamation mark "!" beside the account name. I also get these error messages (attached)Screen Shot 2015-11-21 at 6.52.02 PM.png

The Sync is definetliy not working correctly. We are using a MacServer here to store our contacts. Doesn't work either! Seems that only the contacts.app is affected.

Find a more competent Dav server, the client is fine.

The MacServer Version (10.11) should be competent enough, i guess

Sync with iOS (8 + 9) works here.

But: Our sync problem started with yosemite, not just El Capitan!

Maybe 10.11.2 solve the problem ?

We have managed to get sync working here.

    What we did:

    - created a new user on MacServer for the CardDav Service

    - connected the contacts.app on the MacServer with this new user and imported all contacts

    - On the clientside we only let El Capitan User connect with the new user

-- syncing worked now (we checked in in the webinterface of the carddav server, http://yourdomain.local:8443/addressbooks/users/NEW_USER/addressbook/ -» you can see the update date there)

-- syncing on ios 8 and 9 clients: switched to a planned 15 minutes sync to see changes

    -» working since now.

I guess the yosemite contacts.app is the one to blame.

EDIT: worked with both el capitan 10.11.1 and 10.11.2

I am also encountering the same problem after updating to El Capitan this morning. I am using Fastmail cardDAV for my contacts, it was syncing, but adding and editing contacts taking longer, and sometimes it crashes the address book app. There is a beachball icon after you press the edit button in the contacts app and it will take 10-20 seconds before the app allows you to edit the fields.

I think the problem is El Capitan, and not the service provider. I have tried the address book on my computer running OSX lower without the El Capitan update and the address book syncing are doing fine.

Very frustrating. I hope there will be a fix soon, or there will be some sort of adjustment that Fastmail can implement to fix this problem.

Still not working after updating to OS X 10.11.2. I can't even create a new carddav-account neither in address book app nor in system settings/internetaccounts. Always says that user/password couldn't be checked.

BTW: Same problem used to occurr on iOS devices after upgrading to 9.x, but this was FIXED in 9.2 and now works again!

OS X is unusable for me with this issue. I'm really frustrated about Apple not even commenting on this problem :-((

    10.11.2 solved it for me.

I added a new account with the whole address like

    /addressbooks/__uids__/697EC164-1E7B-4ADB-B8AA-A788F70648D7/addressbook/

I don't remember which of the three versions worked.

The server is an OS X Snow Leopard Server

I have the same problem. This is unacceptable for me. This bug was already present in the beta versions of El Capitan and is still present after 2.5 month of the final release, even though there were two updates released.

What are people that rely heavily on the calendar and contacts function supposed to do?

BTW: caldav works fine. Since release of El Capitan. It's just carddav causing troubles.

    Had the same problem here:

Adding a new account in the contacts.app ended up with "credentials did't work"

Tried all the URL from @idontknowwhoiamsowhat -» did't work either

I added the carddav acoount in internet accounts and "voila" - worked there for me.

    Very strange.

Same problem for me. The funny thing is that I have one CardDav account which is working (in fact it was there before the El capitan upgrade), but when I want to create a new one, then doesn work and I'm getting the error message 'CoreDAVHTTPStatusErrorDomain error 405'

I forgot to mention that I opened the long URL of my address server in Safari, before anything started to work.

    http://10.0.0.252:8800/principals/__uids__/697EC164-1E7B-4ADB-B8AA-A788F70648D7/

I didn't really know what I could possibly have done with that but it works now.
