Q: Can't get track names when importing CD to iTunes 12 and Yosemite

I just bought a MacBook Pro yesterday and although I can successfully import CDs using the USB Superdrive, I am unable to get the track names.

I've tried the 'get info' option but everytime I just get an error message 'no error' and sometimes 'http client error'.

Not sure if it's related but my wifi icon has an exclamation mark in the middle (although I can connect to my wifi fine and access the internet etc.), Safari refuses to load any pages, and although I can use Firefox, when I go there to contact Apple Support it says I am using an unsupported browser . Oh and I can't connect to the App Store :-(

Anyway, focusing back on the iTunes issue - suggestion gratefully received!

Thanks!

    Hello Trina Kellaway,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. When you import a CD, iTunes will attempt to find the track names and song data from the Gracenote media database. If you’re not connected to the Internet, this information may not be downloaded. For more information, see the following resource:

iTunes 12 for Mac: If you don’t see song information

    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH19609

If you’re not connected to the Internet, you can import the songs anyway, and look up the CD information the next time you’re connected.

Since it sounds like you are experiencing connection issues, we may want to troubleshoot those first. Here are some article that may assist you:

I'm not sure if the original user was able to fix this issue, but I have not.  I am connected via Wifi and ethernet.  For about the last year, I get the "No Error" message every time I try to "Get track names" in iTunes.  All my connections are fine (I've run the diagnostic, and it came back fine).  I'm able to use the internet with every other application on my Mac Pro.  In fact, I'm able to navigate and use the iTunes store within iTunes without issue.  Unless I'm missing something, this is clearly not a connectivity issue.  I've uninstalled and re-installed iTunes, but that didn't work.

This seems to have begun when I upgraded to Mavericks.  I cannot upgrade to Yosemite because of I'm running applications relating to video editing (Avid, Final Cut Pro 7) which will not work with our current hardware configuration.  Please tell me there is a solution here.  Below is a screenshot of the error message I received when I right-click on a song and select "Get Track Names."

Did you ever get a response to this.  On occasion, iTunes will pull back the song titles.  Lasts about a day, then back to nothing for a couple of weeks.  C'mob Apple do your job and figure this out.  This should be an easy fix for all.
