Q: Can Apple TV (4th generation) turn on Bose Solo?

Although the Apple TV (4th generation) is able to turn on our Sony Bravia and control the volume of the Bose Solo I haven't been able to determine how to also have the TV turn on the Bose Solo. The Bose documentation states that it is possible for another device to turn it on. Can anyone explain the necessary configuration steps?

Apple TV, tvOS 9.1, 4th generation

What you are describing is called HDMI-CEC. Since the Bose Solo 15 does not have an HDMI connector this is not possible. What the documentation is probably referring to is Auto-Wake. That is the Bose Solo will wake when it detects a signal at one of its inputs. This described in the Bose Solo 15 manual on page 12. Press and hold the power button for five seconds to toggle the Auto-Wake function. The status light will now glow amber and the Solo will wake upon receiving a signal. After 60 minutes of no activity it will then turn off.

Thanks! Not what I was hoping to hear, but helpful. I consider my question resolved to the extent it can be at this time. Perhaps a future update to either the Apple TV or the Bose Solo will enable a more acceptable resolution.

The Bose system doesn't use HDMI, no software update is going to change that. Refer to the manual on auto wake as that would be your best bet
