Q: Kirkland Signature 6 hearing aids streaming music kills Bluetooth

I bought Kirkland Signature 6 hearing aids in October, 2015 because they had the capability to stream stereo directly from my iPhone 5. My other hearing aid is a Oticon with a DAI cable that I connect to a Sony MW600 Bluetooth dongle. I have used the latter setup for over 5 years without issue except for periodically replacing the cable and DAI boots.

I am having a persistent problem while streaming music where the Bluetooth connection quits. The music stops and the hearing aids are no longer paired. I have tried turing off and on Bluetooth and opening/closing the HA battery door but neither remedy restores the paring. The only way I can restore pairing is to power cycle the iPhone.

I have also observed after the HA pairing dies that the iPhone can no longer pair with any other Bluetooth accessory. Bluetooth is inoperative until I power cycle the iPhone. This problem is specific to the HA pairing. Bluetooth never fails when paired with the MW600 or the car stereo.

I called the Resound help desk and their only suggestion was to reset the iPhone network settings. I tried this; no joy. The HA pairing died within a few minutes.

I have not encountered failure with the HA streaming with the TV, only with the iPhone, and only when streaming music.

Has anyone else encountered this? Are there any remedies?

iPhone 5, iOS 9.2

    An interim update.

Last Friday I upgraded my iPhone from 5 to 6s. Bluetooth has failed 3 times since then, but what is different is that it also recovers. Upon failure I pulled out the phone and observed it reporting that it was pairing with my HAs. I imagine the Bluetooth hardware is different between the 5 and 6s and the newer phone can recover.

This recovery event is not the occasional instance where an individual channel drops out. On the iPhone 5 both HAs quit and the phone had to be rebooted to restore the connection.

This is an acceptable outcome. I can use the 5 for a backup or WiThrottle.

For me, the hearing aids connection causes my Bluetooth audio streaming to stop working all-together.  I can connect to a BT device but the audio only comes out of the phone speaker.  I went to Apple prior to understanding what the issue was and they replaced the phone.  As soon as I connected the hearing aids the BT audio broke... The only way I was able to restore BT streaming was to reset all my settings (not just the Network settings) which kills the hearing aid connection.

Is anyone else having this issue?  I kinda like to have both functional...
