Q: Mac and iphone preferred wifi

Hello,

Im finding that my macbook air and my iPhone 6 are mirroring each other when it comes to wifi preference. for instance, in my office, I have a preferred airport network. I only connect my mb Air to this network. My phone I use my whole house network. a few weeks ago, I noticed my phone was always using the office airport as its preferred network (which doesn't work well throughout the rest of the house). I have told my phone to forget the airport network, which in turn my mac will also forget it, which I do not want to happen. There seems to be something tethering the 2 devices through iCloud.

Any advice would be helpful.

iPhone 6, iOS 9.1

    Hello dtsagent2,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that your iPhone and MacBook are sharing the login information for your Wi-Fi networks. You are correct in your suspicion that there is something "tethering" the devices. It is the iCloud Keychain. The two devices will share the information on network logins (among other things), which is why when you "forget" a network on one device, the other will also "forget". Unfortunately, iCloud Keychain is an "all or nothing" proposition, you cannot select bits and pieces that sync between the two. For more information on iCloud Keychain.

    Jeff,

Thanks for taking a stab at this, I don't quite agree as this problem only popped up about 2 weeks ago. I cant recall if it was happening before the last update came out. Both networks were in m keychain, but there wasn't a preference that was tied between each device. Each had their own preference.
